Hello folks, I watched The Diner on TCM channel the other night, I'd forgotton how handsome Mickey Rourke was...and even now after all the surgery he still has something about him.

At a boot sale at a market I visited on Thursday I was fortunate to find a stall selling cheap videos.

I got 2 videos each having 3 episodes of Father Ted and 3 videos each having 3 episodes of Fawltey Towers.

All for the princely sum of one pound

Fawlty Towers - only 12 episodes made and they dust them off here every so often and we have rerun after rerun.

I was never one to watch Mickey Rourke - but I definitely - most definitely remember seeing him in Nine and 1/2 Weeks.

They had the Shining on here last night - I wouldn't watch it and then this was followed by a repeat showing of "Half Broken Things" - I think it was probably made for Television as it is more like a TV Drama.

If you ever get the chace to view it MURDER BY DECREE is a good modern Sherlock Holmees story st\arring Chritopher Plummer as Holmes with a strong supporting cast.

The story is about the Whitechapel murders

Hi folks, yes Nine and a Half Weeks Norma...very good film!

Secret Squirrel, yes it's so funny that episode with the toy cows.

David i've got some good bargains from boot sales and charity shops too.

Dear All

Hello

Some of my best buys of videos and records have been made at chariity shops and car boot sales. They usually have film titles that have not been transferred to DVD.

Has anyone seen "Waterloo Bridge" with Vivien and Robert Taylor? This is a film you need the hankies for.

Oh and Alain Ladd, very talented actor, who made a lot of fim noir types. Most of the film critics seem to overlook him.

Ahh yes waterloo Bridge, what a lovely film Elizabeth, i've seen it many times. Poor "Myra" played by the lovely Vivien Leigh, so so sad. i can see her standing on the bridge and each time i've seen it you will her not to do anything silly...as you say a real tearjerker.

I'm not that old but i had a crush on many an older actor, when they looked younger if you see what i mean, my friends used to make fun (in a nice way) as I fancied George Raft, Alan ladd and a few other actors when they were of a younger age! I was about twenty something at the time!!

Totally agree with you about Wonderful Life Lesley...another goody.

It's a Wonderful Life - I think just about anything with James Stewart in is good. He had so much talent. Apparently it was a financial disaster when made but it has earned many brownie points since and is an old favourite at Christmas time.

I even liked him in Shenandoah - I was a bit teary eyed after watching it.

Vidoeos in all categories are plentiful at your average car boot sale or charity shop. People sell them or donate them as DVD'S take up less room.

The Glenn Miller Story - yes David he was fantastic in that too. Soo talented, I saw him in London in Harvey The White Rabbit.

For some reason the two lines from Wonderful Life that stick in my mind are
"My mouths bleedin Bert" and of course
"Every time a bell rings an angels gets his wings"

He was a nice fella in real life too it seems. He was in the USAF and flew his 25 missions from here in Norfolk. Think that he was based at Tibenham Norfolk. Brave man too.He seemed very un Hollywood whenever interviewed.

Yes David i believe Lee Marvin was awarded the Purple Heart, i liked him in that film with the japanese fella where they're on a n island together and have their own private war...can't think of the name...Ed would know as it's one of his favourites...wonder what happened to Ed.
Humphy Bogart didn't travel too far out of the USA but then he was a lot older.

I'm working a night shift tonight, so back later in the week...thanks David for always posting on this thread, you've kept it going well.

During this entertaing fild (name of which) Ive forgotten. It fell in love with its owner's daughter and asked for permission to become human so it could marry her
