The word 'Amazing' is so over used these days, all these reality show contestants can't seem to speak to a interviewer/presenter etc without gushing about how 'Amazing' this 'Expeireince has been!!....Ah well, I suppose its not as cringe worthy as 'Awesome'!!

Don't like it when people pronounce H and actually don't drop the H if you know what I mean! Where by they say Haitch instesd of aitch...the H should be silent.

I dont like the use of Kids for Children either.

Another one I cant stand is Nan for Grandmother.

My Grandmother used to say to me - I am not a paid worker a Nanny, I am your Grandmother. I could go on, but I wont.

hate it when some one says MY FRIEND yuk

Had a boyfriend once who used to say that to people. Funny thing is the people he said it to could not stand him. WHAT A DICK

Hi All - personally I do no like the word "fag". Ciggy, cigs, etc are acceptable to me. Also I do not like, and it happens on the BBC, when people miss out the letter "T" in a word, eg Ma'lock, Sco'land. Their standards are slipping badly these days.
Just my humble opinion

It's something Americans have, Awdrey - often on a Toosday, whenever that is. LOL

Edit: Should perhaps add that I lived in the US for a year, loved it and in no way am anti-American. (Just in case anyone's briefing their lawyer right now) LOL

The over-used and mis-used word 'literally' as in 'He literally laughed his head off.' (No he didn't!! It can't happen!!)

The phrase 'speaking for myself, personally' makes me scream

Americanisms that are infiltrating our language annoy me too:

Get your people to contact my people (?)
Let's take a rain-check
I'll call you when I've got a window (you what??)

Have to say I was guilty of saying 'ah, bless' - until a friend said to me: 'What are you, a vicar?'

Tie can alk slack bang witty prell.

I can't even remember how it started but my neighbour and I used to talk it all the time in our twenties. It may have come from the time I was training at a skill centre and we would get up to anything to get one over on the instructors.Silly really but very much like grown-ups at school again.
