Pam,

I am pleased that you were able to have the funeral was just as Danny wished, and that you had a few moments to smile in the sadness.

Give yourselves time to grieve and to have tears when they need to be shed. It is an old cliche, but time will heal and those happy days you recall will bring you comfort.

Love to you and all the family,
Elisabeth xx

Once again can i say thank you for all your kind and thoughtful messages.

I found out that Danny planned his funeral to the last song.

The coffin was carried by male family members to the song Daniel by Elton John, the song Fields Of Gold by Sting was played as we reflected on Danny, then true to Danny's form as his coffin was caried out once again by male family members ;ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE from the Life Of Brian rung out. That was my Danny never wanting anyone to be sad.
His funeral was in Tavistock Devon and his friends from the fire brigade made a guard of honour line when we walked in and then out of the church.
It was exactly as he would have wanted and i am so proud to have been his mum.
Love to you all

Pam,

I have been thinking of you this morning, as you and the family said goodbye to your dear son. I hope there have been a few moments to smile, during such sadness.

Pam,,
I have only just seen this thread, and my heart goes out to you as in June we lost our daughter-in law aged 48 to this dreadful disease with children 10 and 9,so know what you are going through.Like Danny she was so brave and positive. My son is left to keep up his job and look after the children as they live in Oz.
The way we have tried to come to terms with it is to celebrate their lives.
He wouldn't want you to be always sad.It is hard, but they say it gets so that you remember all the nice things.
will be thinking of you and the family on Monday.
God Bless

My condolences to all your family at this time. Take comfort in knowing you had a wonderful son to be proud of.
His children will be left the legacy of a fantastic father, and part of him carries on through them as you will see, in a smile or a mannerism.
He will carry on in the heart of his wife with all the memories of the happy times they shared.

I too will think of you all on Monday

My deepest sympathy, Pam, Danny must have been some chap to fight as long and as well as he did. Probably all the while the doctors were trying to help him, they were learning too about his type of cancer, so maybe if it happens to someone else they will know a little more about the treatment etc, so he will not have died in vain.

I send all sympathy too to his wife and children, so young to have watched their Dad suffer and fight, but what an inspiration to them and all who knew him.

Take care, and be proud, one day you will be together again

Lizx

Remember Me by Lynn New.

No pain beyond, no tears, no fear.
No thoughts of death for I'm still near.
No hugs I know, nor sweet caress,
But I'm still close to love and bless.
No quiet word, nor gentle touch,
But don't despair ~ I love you much.
No gesture kind, to show I care;
The veil's drawn, but I'm still there.
Grieve not too long ~ but look around,
In earthly things I shall be found.
A falling leaf, a growing tree,
In every breeze you will feel me.
I walk in life ~ death holds no pain.
Be Reassured, we'll meet again.
