I haven't seen a flight plan for 2010, other than Duxford's announcement on their website that the Vulcan will NOT be appearing there this year.

I actually saw this beautiful bird in the skies over Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire this afternoon. (She was doing the flypast/ bombing run over RAF Waddington.)

Wonderful sight to see her in the skies again in the area.

LATEST NEWS:

Latest news on this weekend's operations....
Following a successful test flight yesterday, we have now submitted paperwork to the CAA and are awaiting the Permit to Fly. The Crew were all happy with the flight and no faults were reported. The CAA Test pilot on board, even commented that "she flew beautifully." On landing at RAF Brize Norton, a successful compass swing was completed. (Update: Permit now signed and en-route to Aircraft).

To achieve this level of reliability after such a complex major service and modification programme, is a true testimony to the skills and dedication of our Engineering Team. Many congratulations to everyone involved.

Turning now to this weekend, we intend to depart RAF Brize Norton on Saturday and Sunday 3rd and 4th July , flying to RAF Waddington to display, then transit to Goodwood Festival of Speed for another display (on Sunday Only), prior to return to Brize. We will not be landing at Waddington.

Update on planned timings:

Waddington Saturday: Arrival 14:31 with bombing run and display.

Waddington Sunday: Arrival 14:00, with potential bombing run, then into display.

All this is subject to the usual caveats of weather and serviceability, and particularly, on the arrival of a fully signed permit on board the aircraft. All parties are working hard to achieve this in the shortest possible time - so please keep watching our "ticker-tape" updates for the current situation.

We thank you for your continued support and that you will enjoy seeing XH558 in the air very soon.

THIS MEANS THAT PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE HER FLY AGAIN THIS YEAR.

This time in a fortnight I shall again be in a field at Fairford awaiting the worlds best airshow.

Sharron Report 23 Sep 2009 19:38

It has flown over here twice recently and each time I missed it.

I heard it go over after the Shoreham Air Show but was not aware of it at all at the Goodwood Revival Meeting.

AND I WANNA SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Brian...that's a shame!

My mother is going shopping in Southport on Sunday...perhaps she may see the Vulcan fly over!!

BrianW Report 23 Sep 2009 17:48

It is not listed in the Flight Operations on their website.
Looks like it's been dropped.

Last event of the season seems to be Southport on Sunday (27th).
You could always phone to check.

Made it to Shoreham and had a great day (apart from the sunburn!).

Great display by XH558, although I think it was cut a little short due to communications problems, she stooged around in the distance for ages before coming in but then had to get to her slot at Bournemouth..

Glenys the Menace! Report 22 Aug 2009 22:14

Hi Helen. We didn't actually see her at Dawlish as we couldn't make it; we only saw the footage on the news (fantastic as it was!).
However, we saw her at very close quarters at Yeovilton, and oh boy, what an experience! We were taken round her by one of the pilots who flew her in the Falklands.
We took loads of photos of her, so if anyone would like to see her up close, pm me with your email addy and I'll send some to you.
(Thanks for the link, by the way. I'll take a look).

Glenys, I'm so envious of you. We were so hoping that this would happen at Fairford. When I saw you posting I screamed and went straight to you tube to see if anyone had posted, have found this one so far.

She was at Dawlish yesterday, with the Red Arrows. Footage was shown on the local (county) news last night, and wow, what a sight: all nine Red Arrows, headed by our lovely lady at the front. Fantastic sight.

Fantastic Air Display over the sea at Bournemouth at the moment including the Vulcan-does anyone know how much it costs to put it in the air each time?

Oh boy oh boy *thinks I should have been born a boy, lol*

We went to the Yeovilton Air Day on 11th July, and saw Madam from a distance, with her face mask on lol. Then when her ground crew were getting her ready, we were told that there was a hitch and that she may not fly that day. When eventually this was confirmed, there were a lot (thousands, I was told) of people very disappointed as they'd come especially to see her. BUT - bless 'em, they taxi'd her to where the public could see her at close quarters, and I can tell you, this more than made up for her not flying! Wow!

I was wearing a tee-shirt that I'd bought years previously, to help raise funds to keep XH558 in the air (there was a caricature of her crying, with the caption "don't let me die - I want to fly"). And we took absolutely loads of photos of her. Although she was built to be lethal, she's so awe-inspiring. What an aircraft .....
*realises self is rabbitting on*

You are right, Liz.
(Rude words to myself)
I couldn't have done yesterday and today because of work commitments.
Hopefully get better organised for one later in the year, maybe Bournemouth/Shoreham.
