Good morning everyone.

Last night I was out with OH as we do a fortnightlly Quiz for the Brits who live nearby. As I was talking to some friends and acquaitances I mentioned this site and how interesting i had found it. I casualy mentioned that we could form a small group of people who were interested in reading and the meet once a month to discuss and exchange books...Well I was amazed at the response and we have decided to start this in September. * August is always hectic with visitors coming and going*

Thought you would all like to know what an influence you have made

Jennifer Worth has 3 books out, that follow on from one another.
- the 3rd has just come out in hardback i think its out in paper back later - not sure and cant remember the title

They are based on her life training and becoming a midwife in the 1950's.
the first two in order are

Call the Midwife
Shadows of the workhouse

Brilliant reads and MUST get the 3rd.

Hi to all you readers out there.

Ann in Glous (who is on this thread), runs a readers group on here.
She calls it GReaders ..
All interested parties pick two books and write a little summary about them.
Then we all vote for two of the books put forward by other members (i.e. not our own).
We then have around six weeks to get and read the two books with the most votes. Then we do a review.
And it all starts again.
Ann is a lot more erudite and precise in explaing it all.

It does get us reading books we might not otherwise have read.

I will now be putting this book on my "must read" list.

You explained it very well Tess thank you. Just put Greaders reviews into search and there should be several books to read about.

Can't believe I bought this book for my kids when they were relatively young.

I read it recently and was saddened at the ending. The kids seemed to take it on board as, at school, this is drilled into them. Sad, isn't it.

Thank you Linda for the book.
Just received it and started reading it straight away.
Thought that I had better come on Genes and let you know.
I will pass on to Ann at the end of the week as I have a
few hectic days and so no reading.
