Hi Muffy,

Currently watching BBC 4 - they have a documentary on abour the life an music of Bobby 'Blue' Bland. So I'm listening to a bit of blues right now.

There's a blues program on featuring several artists of the genre following the documentary.

Probably go to bed in a mo though.

Hi Amanda

I'm so glad you enjoyed him!

Not a lot more of his stuff to track down though - to my knowledge only two other albums - he was the highlight of my IoW trip, without a doubt.

Ref Brothers in Arms - the bit of the album that always gets me is "girl, you look so pretty to me - like you always did. Like the Spanish City to me, when we were kids" Tunnel of Love, I think, Could be cos the Spanish City is just a mile away from here. Or could be a bit of young love revisited. Perhaps I could dedicate it to any middle aged couple about to marry????

Hello Sue.....Brothers In Arms is ingrained into my very being ( used to listen to it over and over again many years ago ). I can't say that I can recall the tv series you mentioned though.

Now that young Mr Nutini is certainly growing on me......he is so versitile , I really must track down some more of his stuff .

Brothers in arms is a hauntingly brilliant song

Loved Romeo and Juliet.......but if I were going for a favourite Dire Straits song it would have to be so far away

Hi Uggers

Brothers in Arms definitely features in my "if you were ever on desert island discs" list.

Does anyone else but me remember a tv series about a group of discharged soldiers, who'd served in Northern Ireland, and how their lives went afterwards? One of them rode his motorbike off the top of a mountain to the background music of Brothers in Arms.

I remember that bit so clearly, but no-one I've mentioned it to has any memory of it at all.

Am I just imagining it?
