Try knitting/Crochet for your local Hospital special care baby unit. I'm about to deliver four full carrier bags to our Stevenage unit. (Hats) all sizes (Angel pockets) all sizes (for babies that don't make it from 20 weeks gestation) (Blankets) all sizes Cardies....matinee coats ...teenie. Booties ...teenie. Sleep suits. Lots of patterns on the internet but be careful of US abbreviations. |

Julia, I agree about the knitting magazines, and when you take the cellophane off there is very little inside! Many years ago there used to be a lovely magazine called(I think) Home sewing and knitting. It included chrochet and machine knitting and was good value for money. I still have a few copies left, very tattered and torn. I also have a wartime knitting book, when all the patterns were for what now seems very small women! |

Julie Ann, not many I would be interested in either, but I did fancy the crochet cover-up in a coffee coloured yarn, and the bunny. Last issue was of more interest to me. |

I have so much 1 and 2 ply machine knitting wool that I find it hard to justify buying thicker wool to hand knit!So I am doing neither at the moment! Knitting wool doesnt always crochet well. Must look out for that womans weekly book. |

Sally, get yourself a book, and try again. As you say, all the crochet things were in fashion in the 70's. I had had two girls by then, and it was fashinable to put them inlittle knitted and crochet dresses. So, when i went into the nursing home to have my third, I packed a ball of wool, a hook, and a teach yourself book. |

Janice, many thanks. Finally got a look at the pictures, as I am not very computer literate, and anything different to what I am used to, usually has me foxed. Yes please, could I have the instructions for No.1 and No.4 |

Janice, many, many thanks. I just want a pattern for a pair of woman's gloves, not mittens, knitted in double knit, on four needles. It is years since I have knitted on four needles, and just fancied having a go,for the experience. |
