Do we have any members living near the hospital he is in, who could maybe pop in and see if he needed anything? Just till he can be moved nearer home?

Hope he will stay positive and things start healing well.

Had a phone call from our daughter last evening . was a long day . they left at 7am and got there around 12.30pm had some lunch before being able to spend 3 hours with Jamie and eventually got home at 8pm.
His hand and arm are very swollen and he isnt getting much sleep because of the pain.they are still going with the leeches but he may still need another operation.

Just had a text from his wife , he may be able to come home tomorrow, The leeches have worked sufficently to allow him to be discharged for follow up nearer home.
Not 100% result but the surgeon is happy with it so far

The problem now will be how he gets home !!

Shirley....that is good news, fingers crossed he can get home soon. Do the NHS do a voluntary taxi service, most aresa do but he may need to help with some fuel payments, worh asking though.
l know someone who used to drive for the NHS in Birmingham, he took someone to Scotland once, but l don't know the ins and outs of it!!

Take care

Pleased to hear that he is in better spirits I am sure it is very depressing for him to have the hand problems, he will be wondering what the future holds I am sure. I hope the leeches work.

Really good news that the surgeon is happy for Jamie to be discharged. You all must be so relieved that the leeches treatment worked. What a worrying time, I hope things begin to improve for Jamie and your family now. Take care.

Hope Jamie can be brought home soon so being close to his family will help him feel better. Good that the leeches did their job and hope he will heal well.

Maybe he could have a look at what Izzy's boy Ash has managed since his injuries happened last July, he has been go karting and all sorts. It might inspire him and let him see that what has happened can be turned round to positive things in the future.

From Izzy's thread on Chat, July 2010, "he has lost both his legs, fingers on his left hand, broken his pelvis and has a detatched retina in his left eye."

I am not belittling Jamie's accident but just saying there is hope altho at the mo Jamie is probably very upset, Ash lost fingers too.

Good morning, I have been looking on here each day, following how things are improving and delighted to read that Jamie will soon be back with/near to the family. No place like home, is there?
Using leeches has been around for hundreds of years and is still one of the best treatments that there are for this type of incident. I shall keep you and the family very much in my mind when I have my quiet time each morning.
I susoect that the family are looking at every angle to get Jamie Home. would the company he works for help out as it is a =n accident at work after all.
I will look on here again tomorrow,
Kind regards and positive thoughts from

Jamie rang me this morning .He had leeches again Sunday night and his thumb tip was looking pink so they left them off from yesterday to see if it remained pink and it has done so. It not 100% but suffient they think so he is now waiting to be discharged and his company based near Canterbury Kent are sending a car up to collect him .

He has to go to East Grinstead for follow up treatment later this week they will contact him with an appointment. Its still some way from where he lives near Dover but more manageable than Sheffield and he will be at home with his family .
