OH read it on his Kindle and said it was rubbish - not well written - so I haven't bothered. The sex? Would rather read a good murder story :-D

Muffyxx Report 21 Jul 2012 22:49

Yep have read all 3....the first one was the trickiest to read.......book two has more of a plot to it and book 3 kind of seals the story.... Not the greatest book ever written..but hey if I wanted to read good lit I'd have read Lady Chatterley's Lover...it was a bit Mills and Boon tbh..but I did fall in love with Christian Grey and read it to find out his story. Didn't think the sex was all that shocking............but enjoyed the story

Laters baby ;-) :-D

I honestly got bored LOL

I fell for the hype and bought the trilogy - a third way through the first I thought - rubbish - I can write better than this, so I sold them to a friend for a fiver!!!

maggiewinchester Report 21 Jul 2012 23:11

Mersey - you got bored?

I wouldn't bother reading about someone else's sexual fantasies - they're only fantasies, and if I so desired , I am quite capable of creating my own!!

Like Sheila & Zombie have (possibly) implied, a good murder/horror takes more imagination - I haven't experienced either of them in reality yet.

Muffyxx Report 21 Jul 2012 23:14

I found the sex a bit tedious tbh..........had hoped for something more...........erm...........well more lol.

I skimmed over the sex bits and followed the story I think that's what made me want to carry on reading lol x

I agree with Maggie above. All I can say is that EL James has made pots of cash. We all bought in to the hype and the trilogy. I have book three waiting for when I can muster up the enthusiasm to read it. Take out the smut and you have a poorly written Mills and Boon book.

My 21 year old read it, said it was like the Twilight books with smut and no plot!

Give me a Tudor Historical book any day, its got plots, murder, love, plots and more plots :-D

Just couldn't be bothered as I have a couple of shelves of books to read already plus quite a few on the Kindle, if it had had good reviews I'd have read it.

I think its the most over rated book(s) ever, Badly written, but like most I had find out what Christen Grays story was, I found the 1st book difficult and hard going to read it was borning, I did laugh at some parts, didnt think it was as rude as I was led to believe, . I read the book 1 and 2 but they then I had fully decided enough was enough. and found a blog on line to give me details of the 3rd book I just couldnt face reading, I have read better Jackie Collins :-D

When these books first came out, and they were on the 'Week's Best Seller List' in the Sunday's, I thought I'd have a look at them when next out shopping. Then I read AnnCardiff's 'review', and thought better of it.
