Well it's been interesting reading all your replies, so hilarious some of them.

Poor michael buble, how could they lol

I would never throw anything in the bin if it could go to a charity shop or recycle .

If my OH started buying me rubbish things Think i would ask him not to bother in future, no point really.

So what i do now is gather the things i don't want or need and put them in a box in the wardrobe until a birthday or something requires a gift .

What's really good just now is going to visit an elderly relative or neighbour and giving them one of umpteen boxes of chocs or biscuits we received, knowing that they will really appreciate the gift.

Giving, I actually prefer ,to receiving.

"10% discount on Thursdays "

Isn't it Wednesdays, or did they have a special extra day this week :-S

Thankfully we circulate 'lists' although there is the occasional unwanted 'extra'.....like the CD of some popular female opera singer. The pitch fair rattled me earwax, it did! That went down the charity shop :-|

Florence61

Florence61 Report 27 Dec 2013 22:17

Malcom yes i would because i generally ask family what they want and from a list choose something. That way everyone is usually happy and not disappointed.

This year the children wanted A***S vouchers as theres lots to choose from and we now have that store here so they were pleased. If B & Q is what you do then dont see what the problem is, afterall it's your choice!

I did get a couple of gifts that I don't like or want. I will take to them to a charity shop.

If you recycle as a present do be careful not to return it to the original giver. :-D

Andysmum

Andysmum Report 29 Dec 2013 22:42

I did quite well this year and liked most of what I got. I sometimes give vouchers and sometimes get them.

OH usually asks what I want - this year it was a couple of wooden garden tubs to replace the rotten ones - the problem is he then gets something else as well, so that I have a surprise.

Anything really unwanted goes to the charity shop, but only if the giver is unlikely to visit!

SueMaid Report 29 Dec 2013 22:57

Luckily for me I loved everything I was given for Christmas - especially the two vouchers for my favourite garden centre :-D

Florence61

Florence61 Report 29 Dec 2013 22:57

Yes i agree you have to be careful where you recycle. My gifts wont be going to local charity shop but down south ,cant offend anyone then!

Oh and another bead for my Pandora bracelet :-D

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 30 Dec 2013 17:02

Like Mersey said "it's the thought that counts" but a bonus for me this year was that I did like the presents I got so I didn't have to pretend to be delighted when I said my thank-yous. Even OH, renowned for not getting things quite right, bought me something to wear that was the right size, colour and style.

(An example of him getting things just a bit wrong was when I asked him to buy a birthday card for grandson, then aged 10. I reminded him that J. would not want a card covered in pink fairies and to make sure it was suitable for a 10 year old boy. He duly arrived back with a card featuring various sports. Only thing was he hadn't noticed the big gold words across the front "To my dear nephew"!!)
