Hi, Mersey reading your post is reflective of someone I know, a kind quite reserved man who has also suffered heart attacks, and most recently just got over cancer.

Like your friend he also refuses to be beaten by what has happened and never seems to complain about anything.
A lovely sweet caring gentleman <3 <3.

Yes, My OH is exactly the same.
Will never visit the doctor when he feels unwell.

One day 12yrs ago, he called me from work to say that he felt ill all day, and would be taking himself straight to bed when he got home.
He arrived home, looking extremely pale, said he was going out for a short while but would be back soon.

As he left the house, I demanded to know where he was off to.
"I am going up to the hospital to get myself checked out, because I don't feel right"

and with that... he drove off in the car.... I followed 10minutes later after finding childcare for the kids

He was 40yrs old and having a major heart attack.

The doctors were furious when they heard that he had:
a) ignored the warning signs all day
b) refused to leave work early
c) driven himself to A&E with one hand on his chest and the other on the wheel!

EDIT:
He was discharged from hospital 10days later, on his 41st Birthday

Hey, count me out! I've never taken the micky out of anyone for feeling sorry for themselves when ill.

However.......I did have to smile when I spotted bags of lozenges on the pharmacy counter packaged as 'Manflu Lozzers' :-D :-D :-D

Hope your friend makes a full recovery. Paula, my Dad was the same if he had a cold you would think he was at deaths door, when he was terminally ill he insisted on being taken out in his wheelchair for fresh air and to feed the ducks. Us fellas can be strange creatures

Hello Mersey <3 <3 <3 <3 I have noticed that when men have Man Flu they make such a fuss and need lots of TLC, however when they are REALLY ill they become strong and stoic and uncomplaining. My friends husband was so poorly with terminal cancer, I was sitting chatting to him one day when my friend had gone shopping. Clearly he was suffering, I asked him how he was feeling and he said "The gout in my big toe is so bad I could cut my toe off" I looked at him and honestly did not know whether to laugh or cry. A lovely sweet man I miss him, <3

I hope your dear friend continues to make a full recovery

Take the mickey out of men for having man flu and feeling sorry for themselves, when they are ill.....

I went to visit a friend today, who has not been very well at all, had
a severe heart attack just before Christmas at the age of 42.....

How this lovely person has coped and is coping is amazing, he refuses
to be beaten, he has worked everyday since he left school, very much
a stress head, worries about everyone apart from himself, and his main
concern, love, duty is to his 2 lovely gorgeous children.

His smile is as big as the Sunshine, and he laughs at the fact that he is
determined to do things he would not of dreamed of before.....Good for
him is what I say.

This gentle, warm man has the heart of a lion and I for one wish him happiness
and long may his health improve and live his dreams :-) :-) <3

Just wanted to share it, as it made me put a few things in perspective
after spending time with him, and us putting the world to rights........
