have 3 children, looking to go beginning of July but can be a bit flexible. Ideally want a cottage or guest house, not holiday park, and has to be near the sea. Ive googled for ages but am going round in circles. Just been quoted over £800 for one week in a tiny cottage thats in the middle of nowhere, this is what Im trying to steer clear of. Any recommendations would be welcome. We have no pets and aren't smokers. :-)

I should add, we'll go north upto Blackppol or south as far as Devon - and anywhere inbetween. Barry in Wales is ok but not as far as Aberystwyth. Sorry to sound choosy. x

May to August is high season so prices wont be low....

Have you looked at Hoseasons ,,,they do log cabins, self catering do as you please ,,,but have the advantage of on site amenities if you want or the weather isnt so good.

Never thought of Hoseasons, a log cabin sounds better than a caravan :) I'll look now thankyou.

Have a look at Owners Direct too, as they tend to be a bit better value. Holiday cottages aren't a cheap option these days, as they are generally much better equipped/decorated etc. than they used to be.

Cottages 4 You have properties everywhere and of all sizes. If you have Tesco reward points to use, £30 worth of vouchers = £100 off a booking.

Not a holiday park as such but I can thoroughly recommend the 5 star Waterside Bay at Bowleaze Cove near Weymouth - been three times and although they are caravans they are of the highest standard with dvds, heating, fully fitted kitchens, bathrooms etc. Beach is across the road and there is an indoor pool for if the weather is wet.

Tenby is lovely, as are the adjoining beach resorts of Saundersfoot, and Amroth - or anywhere on the Gower Peninsula - stunning beaches and scenery and you have the lovely town of Swansea

No worries - they are pretty good and the prices are reasonable. Bideford is a good spot and plenty for children round there too.

Church Farm, there are some very funny people live round the other side of the harbour!

Scotts at East Wittering is a caravan site but not so very far from the sea.

Bunn Leisure at Selsey has a lot of good entertainment and some good places to play, it used to be a bombing range when we played on it but it is safe now.
