It may not be classed as healthy eating to give a child a pack of mini cheddars in his lunch box but it could have been something worse, ie a chocolate bar . Do not get me wrong I am all for healthy eating but, who gives schools the right to say what someone elses child should or should not eat.

I agree Sylvia, I really think moderation is needed over this issue of healthy school lunch boxes. I really can't see that a pk of mini cheddars should lead to a child being excluded from school for four days!!! If the school feels so strongly about this matter perhaps they should issue all parents with a list of acceptable foods for their children's daily picnic - bit like getting a diet sheet from the surgery when you're trying to lose weight! then this problem wouldn't arise.

I remember when I was at primary school in the 60s no one had packed lunch and we had to eat what we were given (no choice that I remember)

The only time I got a packed lunch was one day a week when the school took the non swimmers to a pool and we wouldn't be back in time.....Just a couple of sandwiches wrapped in tin foil no extras :-D

So, if we send children to school with four packets of mini cheddars, will they get two weeks off school during term time, for a holiday. Only joking of course I know this would not happen. :-D
