with a slightly different slant :-D :-D :-D :-D

Taffy and Dai were walking along a street in London. Taffy looked in one
of the shop windows and saw a sign that caught his eye.

The sign read, "Suits £5.00 each, Shirts £2.00 each, trousers £2.50 per
pair".

Taffy said to his pal, "Dai, look at those prices! We could buy a whole lot of
clothes and when we get back to Cardiff we could make a fortune.

Now when we go in you stay quiet, okay? Let me do all da talking 'cause if
they hear our accents, they might think we're thicko's from Wales and try
to screw us. I'll put on my best English accent."

"Roight y'are Taffy, I'll keep me mouth shut, so I will. You do all da
business," said Dai

They go in and Taffy said in a posh voice, "Hello my good man. I'll take 50
suits at £5.00 each,100 shirts at £2.00 each, and 50 pairs of trousers at
£2.50 each. I'll back up me truck ready to load 'em on, so I will."

The owner of the shop said quietly, "You're from Wales, aren't you?"

"Well yes," said a surprised Taffy. "What gave it away?"

The owner replied, "This is a dry-cleaners."

I was in London a couple of days ago and I got a bit lost. I noticed a blackboard outside a small bar and it said, “All drinks 10p”. I could not believe my eyes, but I need a bit of a sit-down so I went in. The guy behind the bar looked in his late 50s, well dressed and he smiled and nodded so I ordered a G&T. “Ice?” he enquired.
“Just a little,” I replied.
“That’ll be 10p thank you sir,” he said as he placed the glass in front of me. I paid. In the corner sat a group of pensioners, staring at the table and with not a glass in sight.
Anyway, I asked the bartender how come he could make a living out of selling drinks for 10p. He told me that he had always wanted to have a pub but could never afford to buy a lease. Then, as he neared retirement, he had a big win on the pools and it set him up – he didn’t need to work again. He decided that he’d realise his dream and have a cosy little pub, and, as he didn’t need the money, he’d sell drinks cheap and hopefully get lots of customers so he could chat away and be the convivial ‘mine host’.
“All very well,” I said, but that lot over there aren’t buying or talking. “What’s up.”
“Ah,” he replied, “They’re regulars. They come up from Yorkshire in a minibus every week.”
“Well why aren’t they drinking?”
“Oh, they’re waiting for happy hour!”

Did not see AnnC's reply. But I expect it was usual - bit of a cross patch with me occasionally.

Anyway, have deleted my post that might have caused her to be a bit cross.

ah - I see John has deleted his posting which frankly was a little on the rude side suggesting "ladies give it a rest" as he found the thread "grating"

I merely said that no one had forced him to come on to the thread and suggested he find some water to play in - now what's wrong with that may I ask!!!

I was going to post something and sign myself Geordie/Jock but who would I offend? the Geordies or the Jocks.

Actually I would offend neither as they are all sensible people who can laugh at themselves.

There is NOTHING wrong with this thread.
