In the near future I will have to be filling out forms like this. I'm not looking forward to it at all. I applied for OH blue badge and was surprised when we received it within a week. Sent of for the attendance allowance form and it says you need to be needing someone to care for you for 6mths before you apply. Wonder if that still applies if he has his leg/s amputated.

For the information of anyone who needs to be aware of this I have copied it from a newsletter that I am proof reading for a charity I volunteer for. It may be useful.

Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
Personal independence payment (PIP) is the new benefit for people who need help taking part in everyday life or who find it difficult to get around. It replaces disability living allowance (DLA) and the Government estimates 600,000 fewer disabled people will qualify for PIP.
Disability Rights UK has produced their guide to help you through the claiming process. The guide covers information on:
* The PIP rules
* The scoring system
* The activities and descriptors
* Filling out the claim form
* Keeping a diary
* The face to face *consultation/assessment with ATOS
*What to do if you are not happy with their decision
Further help and information The guide is in pdf and word format and is free to download. An easy read version will follow shortly.

For pdf version go to www.disabilityrightsuk.org/personal-independence-payment-pip

A photocopied version of their Claiming PIP Guide is available for £4.00 including postage and packing.
