Some once said that coffee could strip paint, tired it and apparently it does, coca cola can descale toilets, I know that builders used it in years when they went back to new houses after a year see if anything needed doing, cleaning toilets amongst other jobs that said drink would do and cheaper than proper cleaning fluid.

Some years ago I had a major op. and i suggested to the District Nurses that maybe I could use Baby Wipes to keep myself clean around my wound (not on the wound itself). They were horrified. Was told not to use. Some can strip paint!!!

Use them now, but nowhere near any cuts etc., :-D

Wow I didn't know all of that either, I have to use them instead of toilet paper, cleaning my face because there is so much soap products that I'm allergic too, but never flush them away, will buy a job lot next time. :-D

How very interesting I never knew all that so will now confuse my friends even more than having a baby gate and nappy bags I might have to start buying baby wipes.
It does make me wonder mind, after all this would you use them on a child ?

On the subject of putting / not putting things down the loo, when my sister & I hired a camper van, he recommended Tesco's cheapest - which isn't too bad. I've actually used Tesco or Sainsbury's cheapest soft stuff for years (other supermarkets cheapest is also available), which is why I think I've (touch wood) had no repercussions from the candle I dropped (and flushed) down the loo before Christmas :-D

Use anti-bacterial wipes for my wooden worktops in the kitchen then wipe round the woodburner before burning them. Good for cleaning marks from painted wooden kitchen and around door handles.

I use them baby wipes for a mountain of jobs around the house
cleaning my gold jewellery
rubbing the dog down
wiping the animal cadges out
cleaning the cat hairs off the window cills
I also pop one at the bottom of my waste paper bins to make them smell nice

but I only ever rub them on the stair banister
if the in-laws are visiting lol ;-) ;-) ;-)

Brilliant for removing marks/stains on your carpet too.

Never put them down the loo......"Dial A Rod" is very expensive.

Trust me, I know!! :-(

I use them if I need to do a quick clean up in the bathroom, Loo seat, taps etc.

Not using the same one obviously.

I have never thought of using them on my leather suite. So will definitely give that a go now.
But as for flushing anything other than loo paper ,even if it says flushable ,plus quilted toilet paper is a no no( in this house).I was horrified when we had to be unblocked to see the build up of wipes etc.I was also surprised when the plumber said not to use the quilted paper either.

even the ones you can flush down the loo......... only two each flush!

If you need more than two........ you should consider having a shower :-(

but do read the small print and don't flush them down the loo!
(learned this the hard way)

I have a leather sofa too Mersey, baby wipes are brilliant for cleaning... easier and faster than the "leather cleaner" that used to leave streaks. The vinyl chair in the study looks like new.

I also use them to clean telephones, light switches, fiddly bits on ornaments, all sorts of things.

So far, the sofa hasn't shown signs of dermatitis :-D

If you read the article, it mentions the ingredient that lots of people are allergic to, most of the manufacturers say they no longer use that ingredient.

They are also great for cleaning ceilings just don't put them on your baby's bum!!

LadyScozz Report 3 Mar 2014 03:23

There's no baby in this house, but I use them to clean leather & vinyl (got the hint on these boards).

If you use them on a baby, or yourself, please check what's in them!

They may cause dermatitis
