I want to revise my card details for renewal and the Help section says click on "Subscribe" on the Home Page but I can't find it.

How do I find it?

I don't think you can change your card details until you receive the e-mail telling you that your membership is due for renewal, once you have received that you should be able to change your card details during the renewal process.

I have received the renewal e-mail which states:

"...go to 'My Account' on the site and change your Subscription Details. Don't forget to save your changes."

I can't find "My Account" on the home page.

I changed cards last year. The way I done was I let my subscription run out. I then renewed it the next day using a different card. If your subscription is on auto-renew it will try to take your subs from the card you used last time.

When I click on "Account" I get the following menu:

Personal Details
Change Email and Password
Membership Details
Subscription Details
Credit Details
Email Preferences
Delete Account

None of these options shows my credit card details.

I believe the option to change your card details is only available as you go through the renewal process, i.e. you choose the option you want, then choose subscribe, and on the next screen you should get the option to either choose your current card or the option to select another card or payment method.

From Genes Help FAQ

"How do I change the card I pay with?

We don't actually store your card details online. If you want to use a different card for your auto-renewal payment, you can do so from two weeks before your renewal payment is due.

Here’s how you can change the card details
.
• Select the option to renew your membership on your Genes Reunited homepage by clicking on 'subscribe'.

• Choose the membership package that you'd like.

• Click on the green box titled 'Subscribe'. This is to the right of the payment options list.

• If you are a Platinum subscriber you’ll see the Additional Features page where you can add other records to your package. Standard members won’t see this page.

• This will take you to the payment page. Please ignore the box at the top prompting you to enter your password.

• Go down to the next section and enter the new card details.

This will then be the card we’ll use for future payments."

Haven't had to try it yet though!

Beware, sometimes when you change your card your premium goes up!

I'm not saying this will happen to you as GR don't seem to be consistent with their membership charges but this has happened to several members.

Does the the renewal e-mail you received not have a link on it, my renewal e-mail had a link "Renew Now" which I just clicked and it took me to the "Select a Subscription" screen.

Looking at the options at the top of the page I am on at present which are:-

I think the "Select a Subscription" screen can be accessed by clicking on "Upgrade"

James, I renewed a couple of weeks ago. I had the usual " your subscription is up for renewal, don't do anything if your card is the same as last time " message.

I have a new card but couldn't see any way to change it before hand.

On the day I had another email fro them saying " We are having trouble continuing your genes membership because your card has expired go to our secure payment link here. Click. ".

On that link you can change your card details an they then email to tell you everything is OK again.

Hope this helps.

James. All you need to do is just gothrough the process to renew as if you were using your old card.it then gives you the option of putting your new card details in.

At what point do GR tell members how much they are to be charged on renewal?

Do they treat a change of details as if it is a new membership?

I'm wary of this as my card details have changed and won't renew if my sub is doubled. It isn't so much the increase but the fact some members are still only charged around £7.

The 'bringing everyone onto the same fee' seems to have been one team members fanciful idea as this is clearly not true. Upping subs on renewal is random and unfair.
