My dear ma-in-law is 100 years of age to-day. She has just phoned to tell us, very excitedly, that a card has arrived from the Queen :-)

She is a wonderful, brave and courageous lady and we all love her. She lives alone, can still push a trolley round the supermarket and, despite failing sight, she never complains about anything.

She has had a few setbacks in her life - her adored sister died of TB in 1937 aged 20, and her brother was killed in action, aged 33, on the last day of WW2. She lost her beloved husband in 1981 after 43 years of happy marriage and her first son died last November in her arms.

There will be a family gathering in her home early this evening and we shall all drink a toast to her, even though she has said she doesn't want any fuss!

Awww really chuffed for her Wend. Spoil her to bits sweetie. Its a very special day for her. :-D

Mind you, I am a little biased.... I have always preferred older women he,he.
Too much of a sentimentalist by far am I. ;-) :-D
