LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 13 May 2014 18:27

All of my GF's WW1 service records.....fingers crossed :-D :-D

I was looking through some old postcards the other day and one of them was addressed to him as 2nd Airman and yet I'd never noticed it before. I have so many photos of him in his uniforms one of which was a Scottish Regiment. :-) :-)

I am asking this question because it fascinates me.

How long have you both been researching and what was it that made you start.

If you want me to mind my own....... just say ;-)

I really started when my parents died 18 years ago as I inherited most of the family bits and bobs. Although, I can remember going with my dad some years before to a cemetry in Cambridgeshire where his mother's family came from. :-) :-)

But I suppose I really got hooked about 10 years ago when things started to become available online. :-) :-)

How about you Barb :-) :-)

BarbinSGlos Report 13 May 2014 18:44

Belle the last 7 years of my mums life she had Alzheimers and started saying things I dismissed as confusion. I knew that she had never known her own mother so after she died I sent off for her B,Cert.

From that I went on and discovered a multitude of shocks. You may already know that she was born in the workhouse. I have found her mother and gone back as far as I can. Fascinating but very very sad. She was born 1912 so I will have to wait until the next census to find who she was given away to. She kept her birth surname.

I could write a book LOL
