Goodness me, I can't believe how many of you have a 'thing' about the colour of your pegs!!!! :-S :-S :-S

There is a solution - buy wooden ones :-D

Like Liz, I'm a bit of a hoarder, but DO throw things out, so it isn't really a problem, certainly, in my case not an OCD.

daughter drive me crazy
now does it really matter if the tins in the cuberd are all over the place

she has to have them in rows of alder all beans next the scetty then peas
then carrots and so on
same with the bloody freezer

only good thing about it is she like to put all the shopping away
when i come home
or i should say when we come home
she even has to pack the shopping as every think has its own space in the shopping bag

Well. I have most of the things you have all mentioned. Apart from the shopping being put away in order. I also count things in threes. I know this last one is crazy and I can remember how it started. I was around 5 years old and my uncle was telling my dad that he did it and I started to do it. I have never told anyone this before and I have been doing it for....... 54years eeeek

Dame*Shelly*("\(*o*)/")

.........sounds very normal to me :-)

I don't have real OCD, but do recognise that some would say I have certain traits.

The first thing I do after coming in from shopping is thoroughly wash my hands.
Money is so dirty !
This probably stems from a holiday job, when I was a student in a TV rental shop and was responsible for taking in the payments.
I always knew when the coal man or fishmonger had been in,as their 10/- notes were so smelly.

I must wash my hands many times during the day. I don't mind at all that they get dirty ( and I garden without gloves mostly) but I must be able to get clean again.

I do prefer matching pegs on each item of washing..........

Okay, time to 'fess up'.
I HATE my house 'in order' - because it echoes.
Quite often can't find stuff because beans should go in THIS cupboard, but last time I put the shopping away, they went in THAT cupboard.
Dishes stay dirty until there's enough to waste my time on.

I like to wash my hands after shopping/being on the bus, and get round to it (usually after putting the kettle on).

I don't mind the cats sleeping on my bed - but dislike them sleeping on my pillow - nothing worse than a mouthful of fur in the wee small hours.

My garden is a mess - but I have hedgehogs, sloworms and random frogs. Once, (about 20 years ago) on having an early spring clear up, I put the fork in the garden, dug right down, and found a still live, but pierced, frog on the fork tine. The animals have more right to a home, than I have to a 'perfect' garden.

My pegs are wooden.........

Well i too have a few things that could be OCD.

I have to have 2 of everything. when i buy shampoo, I always buy the matching conditioner. i always buy 2 boxes of washing powder and conditioner and that lasts 2 weeks!
When I put a candle on my mantlepiece, i need an identical one at the other end.

All my ornaments in the windows are placed in such a way there is symmetry. Always a bowl in the middle, vase on each side etc. i just dont like odd things. its all to do with balance and fairness. Two's company, three's a crowd!

Now when I hang out the washing. I do it colour coded. First all the dark blues and blacks, then the reds and pinks, next the whites and greys. Any odd or unusual colours go on their own on a little cross line. I just think this looks tidier than all the colours mixed up.

I actually dont really think, these oddities are OCD but just quirky traits of me lol

we would be very boring if we were all the same, wouldn't we?

I have been thinking about this "peg" thing that many of us seem to have, and other similar quirks....

... I HAVE A THEORY :-S :-S

It may because we are artistic people. Artistic people like things to look..well ARTISTIC!, symmetrical etc. For example...How many of us have artistic hobbies?

Artistic people are usually sensitive, deep thinking and romantic--- and that is what has led us to want to do our family tree!

Hence.. why so many of us exhibit these "quirks"

Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it ;-) :-D :-D :-D

Florence61 Report 22 May 2014 17:05

Thankyou Jemima, I just knew there would be a logical explanation and you summed us all up correctly.

So no we do not have OCDS but"quirks".....love that explanation
