~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 24 May 2014 08:47

l have to have even numbers with pegs on the line and like AnnG start with the smalls on the inner lines. If l have'nt time l will tell myself to agree that uneven is ok !! Vic throws items on and l often go and straighten them and have to hang trousers from the ankles not the waist. Also l can't stand seeing puddles of water or crumbs on the work tops........the work top pattern looks like crumbs and bits of food anyways ( all browns, orange, cream speckles). l used to count all the stairs and steps and they had to be even, l would go back down one to make it even...but not anymore...phewww

My mother's forname on her birth certificate is Margaret. But she was known by all as 'Peg'.

So, go easy on your 'pegs' please.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 23 May 2014 22:46

For years people have thought I was a bit of a nutter because I had to have my pegs "just so" - you lot don't realise how happy you have made me now I realise I am not alone.

I have 100s of pegs so that I have just the right ones for each garment - I often tip the whole lot into the laundry basket and rummage for ages so I can find the right ones - example, black socks with a red logo have to have small red pegs, etc etc

It's all very well people saying "buy wooden pegs" - their texture isn't right for delicate garments.

When Mr Celeste hangs out the washing I am beside myself until I can get out there and rearrange the pegs as he doesn't appreciate the finer points of peg coordination. Can't look out the window and see what he's done.

Have got a number of "OCD" like habits, nearly all colour related. Handbags have to be colour co-ordinated and then watches, jewellery etc have to match the metal hardware on the bag. I'd be very uncomfortable if I had a gold coloured watch when the trim on a bag was silver coloured. No, it's not a fashion victim thing, it's a colour "OCD" thing.

Oooookay, I guess have no OCD, and I'm feeling a little odd :-S

I've always had white crockery - food looks less like a disaster.
I'm currently painting my walls Magnolia again - purely because it's easier on the eye with my clutter :-0

I don't leave the house without make-up - but that's only for the benefit of others. If I'm not leaving my house/garden, I don't bother - and my make-up is hardly visible anyway.

I DO like my washing hung a certain way - but that's only because it dries quicker - trousers from waistband, and sheets etc so they don't hit the garden table & chairs or the plants (my line runs the length of the garden). Don't care about size order - but can understand it on a rotary.

I dont colour co ordinate the pegs.... anymore

I remind myself not to because my youngest has OCD and colour co ordinates everything.
Over the years I have replaced all my crockery with plain white because she used to spend ages making sure that each patterned edge was lined up and stacked exactly!

I confess too..... if anyone else hangs my washing out, I always re-do it!
It must be hung in size order, starting with smalls on the inside, then the larger items and finally, bath sheets and bedding on the outside!

Thankyou Jemima, I just knew there would be a logical explanation and you summed us all up correctly.

So no we do not have OCDS but"quirks".....love that explanation

I have been thinking about this "peg" thing that many of us seem to have, and other similar quirks....

... I HAVE A THEORY :-S :-S

It may because we are artistic people. Artistic people like things to look..well ARTISTIC!, symmetrical etc. For example...How many of us have artistic hobbies?

Artistic people are usually sensitive, deep thinking and romantic--- and that is what has led us to want to do our family tree!

Hence.. why so many of us exhibit these "quirks"

Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it ;-) :-D :-D :-D

Well i too have a few things that could be OCD.

I have to have 2 of everything. when i buy shampoo, I always buy the matching conditioner. i always buy 2 boxes of washing powder and conditioner and that lasts 2 weeks!
When I put a candle on my mantlepiece, i need an identical one at the other end.

All my ornaments in the windows are placed in such a way there is symmetry. Always a bowl in the middle, vase on each side etc. i just dont like odd things. its all to do with balance and fairness. Two's company, three's a crowd!

Now when I hang out the washing. I do it colour coded. First all the dark blues and blacks, then the reds and pinks, next the whites and greys. Any odd or unusual colours go on their own on a little cross line. I just think this looks tidier than all the colours mixed up.

I actually dont really think, these oddities are OCD but just quirky traits of me lol

we would be very boring if we were all the same, wouldn't we?
