Hi Margee, I hope you know that I was joking :-) if I was you I would have exactly the same views as you. Good luck to you. Really I was just moaning about GR's organised chaos when it comes to subscriptions

Wendy :-)

Gee, Tenerife Sun, I'm sorry if I'm one of those who made you hyperventilate but it's not my fault, honestly. I'm not stupid enough to contact GR and demand that I pay more but I do think that it's greatly unfair how GR discriminates.

I was led to believe that because my subscription came up in May last year when they had the special offer that they renewed my sub for that price, 6 pounds a year.

Now this year they have given me an extra month because of a very small contribution that I made to the WDYTYA board. Now my sub doesn't become due until June. I wonder if the special offer will still be valid?

Ditto TS.....my sentiments entirely

I have had numerous one sided email conversations with GR re my continuous ten + years membership. All to no avail. Like Jax I'm not to bothered by the price, either I pay it or I leave, it's the inconsistency that annoys me.

jax Report 21 May 2014 18:52

As we know there have been a few threads about the different prices....including posts from GR themselves, saying everyone will be paying the same......but that was a load of C*** as it didn't happen...

The different prices does not bother me as I started off paying £10 for 6 months which then went down to £7.96 for 6 months.....now I have an annual sub just because I thought they were going to put my 6M sub up to £15.....whether they would of.....I will never know now :-)

It must be annoying for some long time members who have had their subs doubled for no reason at all.

I got a free month last year for posting....... :-D...... then my sub ran out the next day.and that really confused their computer, because they gave me the month plus 50 credits :-D It must have thought I was a new subscriber

Jax I think it is more to do with if they like you or not than when you joined. I joined in 2003 and still paid £19.?? I can't cope with all these people with £6 and £7 memberships they make me hyperventilate and worse :-D :-D :-D. I'm off to lay down in a darkened room for a while.

wisechild Report 21 May 2014 18:37

They must like me then. I paid 7.96 in April & I got an extra month for contributing to WDYTYA
Not that there was much to contribute to this year.

jax

jax Report 21 May 2014 17:02

No the lower rates are to do with when you joined and whether they like you or not.

I have had a free month for helping on the WDYTYA board/threads for the last 3 years but my subs are not cheap

Lyndi Report 21 May 2014 17:01

I pay a low rate KenSE and haven't helped WDYTYA (or anywhere else where genealogy is concerned)

I renewed on Monday at the continuous price of £7.96 for 12 months, I did have to put in my new card details though & they emailed me as my old card was now invalid.

Kense

Kense Report 21 May 2014 16:33

My rates are the same as Island's.

Could the lower rates have anything to do with helping for WDYTYA?

jax Report 21 May 2014 15:27

When I click on the link, there is no mention of standard membership

Island

Island Report 21 May 2014 13:49

Graham, I quoted Standard membership, as I'm sure Jax and Joy have.

Platinum is a lot more. What does your subs page quote for standard?
