The current charter lasts until the end of 2016, so don't expect any change immediately after the next election.

I never listen to the radio and very rarely watch BBC so can I have my licence for free :-)

There is talk of licensing broadband, as an increasing number of BBC services are internet based. So that could fund a reduction in the TV licence.

DC, I can't believe BBC Radio London was going to merge with Radio Essex as the latter is a commercial channel. If you meant BBC Essex then I don't think you need have worried as the London audience must be about ten times that of Essex. It is those of in Essex who would have lost out as we have little in common with London.

No TV/Radio licence in Australia.

Will you all be emigrating?

Be prepared for LOADS of advertising :-( Sometimes the "ad break" is so long I forget what I'm watching............. that's one reason I don't watch much TV.

I'm fortunate that I don't have to pay for my TV licence :-D

Bring the price down and out of the window goes any decent new programmes being made.

Have yet to see any Fawlty Tower repeats on the Beeb, but love the Saturday evening repeats of Dads Army.

Also bringing down the fee could see the end of many local radio stations and I for one would hate to lose BBC Radio London, which was under threat of merging with Radio Essex about 18months ago.

£150 pa plus loads of adverts all the time.

And what is the wage bill for World Cup? Even if they were working just for free tickets and free hotels, the BBC cannot afford it. Not without more Dad's Army and Fawlty Towers repeats.

I suspect the plan is to abolish the licence fee and replace it by a pay per view system.

'Jam tomorrow' - a pointless pathetic political promise.

And they will always promise to build a bridge where there is no river.

The Culture Secretary Sajid Javid has dropped a slight hint that the BBC licence fee could be reduced after the next general election, he said that the current licence fee is a large amount of money for families to pay.

I am so excited by all the things being promised "after the next general election" that I hope I am still alive after the 7th May 2015 so that I can enjoy all these goodies that are going to come our way.

I wonder why the phrase "Pull the other one it's got bells on" keeps crossing my mind ;-)
