I use malwarebytes, it got rid of a setup that even Kaspersky didn't recognise - I use the free one and it runs daily - to begin with much of what they pick up was PUPs -potentially unwanted programmes - so it is worth having anyway just to prevent unwanted programmes sneaking in |

Before I retired I used to purchase my anti-virus & security software, as my income reduced after I retired I decided to use Microsoft Security Essentials which is free, find it as good as some I have purchased and does what I want. |

I have Norton Anti Virus but for some reason the Windows Security Centre has switched on (probably during an online update!) and now I cannot turn my Norton back on. |

Glad to hear the malwarebytes worked for you - I remember now I did pay the one-off sum for permanent use as OFTG did after the success of the initial scan, probably why I get the daily check-up |

I have Microsoft Security Essentials installed so I thought it was enough (I mean, what to I know) No, I don't turn any thing off! I mean you can't turn something off, if you can't find it, right. It might of been turned off by this malware or whatever but NOT by me. |
