Sadly Society as once was no longer exists,years ago her neibours would have missed her and investigated.nowadays everyone seems to be strangers even in a close environment.you cannot blame any government for this its just the way Society has sadly developed.may she rest in peace.

Not picking holes in the opening post, just thinking out loud on something that crossed my mind.

Hi all I don't think that anyone is picking holes in what has been reported.

Everyone is just trying to fathom how this poor lady was undiscovered for six years.

My dad, as a retired dockworker had to annually notify the pension people that he was still around, if he didn't, the pension would stop.......

Sorry DameShelley, I did not mean to offend with my comment, I was forgetting that some family members are not always in close contact with each other. :-)

I suppose rather than any one thing being the reason, it is perhaps a set of circumstances combined which has allowed this lady's death to go unnoticed as it did.

Last August my SIL in US had to come to Scotland for the funeral of her brother leaving my brother behind , she did ask his friends to keep an eye on him, well when on the third day running he had not been down to the pub for his lunch they got worried and went to his apt. At the office there they asked if they could get in to knock n his door told "No not Company Policy"....OK ...So you go and knock .... "Sorry Not Company Policy" they had to leave very worried the next day went to police who broke the door down and found my poor brother in a coma he had fallen and hit his head , he had an emergency tag thingy but of course he never got to use it . He died 10 days later. His wife came back the day he was taken into hosp , when she eventually managed to get into the apt the staff had phoned up (knowing she was away) and left a message saying "Mrs. G. friends have been looking for your husband if there is no sign of him by next Wednesday we will go in ...4/5 days later !!!

Beggars belief, doesn't it Nolls? If only the friends had tried sooner to get in touch, if only the people in the office had had the sense to go and knock themselves etc etc It's so sad that your poor brother had to end his days in such a way,

What an awful shock for his poor wife too, to have that happen while she was away paying respects to her brother.

May your brother Nolls, and Anne L. rest in peace now.

Thanks Liz as you say "If Only" it has more meaning than anything else in the world. and yes my poor SIL she only had her brother and husband no family of her own and we are so far away. Just a big warning that these Alarms can't help if you are knocked out . Thanks again :-)

This is a topic which means a lot to me. As you can see from my avatar, I am very interested in autism related subjects, especially support for adults who are affected by autism in some way.


There are a great number of older and elderly people who are on the autistic spectrum but who have never received an official diagnosis. They are known, within autism circles, as The Forgotten Generation and tend to display the typical traits......loneliness, friendless, lack of family contact, withdrawal from society, as well as the other traits which go with those on the spectrum.


For those of us with adult children on the spectrum, it is indeed worrying as to what will happen when we are no longer around to support them. There are many of us who are campaigning vigorously to ensure that our children do not become a victim of the neglect this poor lady has suffered.


ps. Yes, there are people in their 70's who are still paying a mortgage.

Indeed a big problem Cynthia, I wonder how this can be addressed?
