My internet connection goes really slow at the same time every year.
I can't hear it from here, I live about 15 miles from Worthy Farm. And my hearing's not great.

My son lives about 5 miles from Glastonbury and can hear it quite well, particularly if the wind is blowing in their direction.

It should be a bit quieter for Andysmumsson tomorrow. ;-) :-)
And my internet connection should be back to normal ( I hope)

KenSE ,
yours is pretty high, are you on the 100 MB Package ?
I am on the lowest (50MB) one and find it plenty fast enough.
Mind you, I don't do gaming or videos. :-D
I do use Skype and that occasionally gets a break in internet connection, but I doubt if its due to my internet speed. :-)

Test 1 33.2 and 8.3
Test 2 30.4 and 8.1

Tried it just now

Download 50Mb. Upload 2.8 Mb.

I was on the lowest Virgin broadband package/speed and recently got free upgrade (but paid £5.99 for courier charge) to a new hub that increased my speeds from 'up to 20Mb' to 'up to 50 Mb' for no extra monthly cost.

Virgin cable.

We had a 'discussion' a few years ago with our son-in-law. We were having repeated problems with a BT connection.

He said we should swap to cable & another provider.
But we don't have cable.
Then connect to it.

Let's start again - there is NO cable in is this area. None is laid. It physically isn't there.

Once the penny dropped, he was astounded :-D

We only recently swapped to BT's Infinity as it was cheaper than the previous package, AND has given us higher speeds. Our previous 'good' download speed was about 4.5 on a good day. Good enough for our needs, but why pay more when we can get faster for less?

Very similar results from both the uswitch and the speedtest sites

8.1 Mb and 8.49 Mb Download

.4 Mb & .38 Mb Upload

Uswitch suggested we change to PlusNet which is interesting as we are with PlusNet :-0

EDIT: We don't yet have Cable in this area

Broadband speed tests are notoriously inaccurate.

Kense Report 28 Jun 2014 19:35

Budgie, no I am on the 60Mb package, I think it used to be 20 Mb.

About a year ago the Virgin hub was replaced by a Super Hub to accommodate the planned speed increase.

A couple of months back I had an email to say they were increasing the broadband speed without charge. They say my postcode area will be uprated by the end of July but I think it must have been done already.

We have two PCs connected to the hub, both by cable, we only use the wifi function for our Kindle HDs.

I think I need a new PC to take advantage of the speed increase.

KenSE
I got the super hub a few months ago and had the same e-mail about the upgrade, but take a look at the date for the Upgrade... 2015?

Your speed supercharge is in the pipeline!

We're supercharging broadband speeds yet again - so you have even more power to do the things you love online.
You can supercharge your speed from up to 30Mb broadband to up to 50Mb broadband between January 2015 and June 2015. We'll contact you when it's ready.

Don't know about slow horses... but I can vouch, for a fast woman. :-(

I've now had an email from Virgin asking if I want 100Mb for no extra charge.

Kense

Kense Report 16 Jul 2014 21:52

The test now shows 104.5 and 5.3.
