the Tour de France is coming to London tomorrow, Monday 7 July. The race will start in Cambridge, travelling through Essex, north, east and central London, finishing on The Mall. Please plan ahead as road closures, bus diversions and busier stations are expected.

Tube and Rail will be the best way to get around although stations along the route will be extremely busy, particularly during the evening peak. Buses in the area will be on diversion or will stop short of their destinations from 09:00 – 18:00. A number of Barclays Cycle Hire docking stations will be suspended.

Check here for travel disruption details:-

It starts at the weekend in Yorkshire starting in Leeds I believe and in the Sheffield area on Sunday.

It will cause disruption wherever it is.

Yorkshire has gone to town, yellow bicycles everywhere. The bunting is out. :-)

Unless you have an elevated viewing point, or on the 'outside' corner of a bend, it's not that easy to watch.

Although we had a road side spot on a straight road, because of other spectators and barricades, we weren't able to see them coming. The Leader shot past followed by the Pack. Blink and you've missed it!

If you do go at least you can say "I was there." :-)

Thank God I no longer work in Central London.

It will be lovely for the Tourists etc., but a nightmare for those getting to and from work!

London is not the best place in the country for commuting, this will just add to the horror of the experience.

Good Old Boris, not a thought for the workers!!!!

Too true DC. We were lucky that it was a Sunday when it came through Kent the last time it was in the UK.

The roads weren't closed for as long as the plans are for London. The hospital was cut off from a large part of their nearest catchment town, and plans had to be put in place for the shift changes to be covered.

A major medical incident centre was set up at one of the Leisure Centres. Someone 'in the know' told us not to go anywhere near it. There was the implication that if the event was disrupted by a terrorist incident, the Incident Centre would be a secondary target.....or even primary one!

Shortly afterwards several doctors in another part of country were arrested on terrorist charges. From memory either the charges were dropped, or they were found Not Quilty.

Nolls from Harrogate

Nolls from Harrogate Report 30 Jun 2014 18:33

Coming through Harrogate on Fri and Sat. So far we have heard the buses will be stopped going into town and of course no cars so that's me not going down to watch. On the other hand the buntings are going up (little knitted jerseys ) and mostly yellow bikes are hanging from walls and railings so quite a festive feeling about.
:-D :-D
