It really does have to be said that you can't beat good old freebies.

I spent the weekend at a music festival and it was totally free - great performances and great atmosphere.

Another good freebie is the Natural History museum in Tring :-D

The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. Can spend the day there quite easily with/without children. Free, free.

Maggiewinchester I remember my great aunt regularly taking me to Tring reservoir for birdwatching many many years ago. We also used to visit the museum and I loved it.

ChrisofWessex I am heading down to that general neck of the woods shortly so I will have to look out for it.

Cannot miss the Donkey Sanctuary - nearby fields are usually full of those lovely animals.

I take it you have been, Dermot?

Yes - many times. I live a few miles away.

Is it much of a detour off the M5?

Dermot

Dermot Report 15 Jul 2014 09:35

From Exeter, (exit M5 - J30 Sandygate Roundabout), it's about 11 or 12 miles using A376 & A3052.

Main entrance well signposted is off the A3052.

Yep I know exactly where you mean - just before it goes into the A38.

Cheers for that.

Are there any decent pubs round there?
