Is anybody going to watch the Opening Ceremony at 8pm?

I might watch a bit of it..... :-D

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 23 Jul 2014 19:08

I am.

I'm staying awake.......... sort of.

It's 4.07am here in NSW

:-D

If I'd gone to bed early I wouldn't wake up in time. :-(

LadyScozz Report 23 Jul 2014 20:04

I should have gone to bed :-(

Turned on the TV (not something I usually do, as I rarely watch it).

We have a black box (not my idea)....... which means we have a greater choice of rubbish to watch.

The Games are on a Free-to-air channel....... and I can't get to it!

I've been pressing buttons like mad for five minutes, and can't get off the pay channels!

Should I wake OH? hmmmm

I can't record it.

waaaaaaaaaah!

:-(

why do these tv programs only consider that Olympics and commonwealth games consist only of varying strength sports like running jumping swimming throwing things and cavorting about on various types of floor coverings........hanging from all sorts of sky hooks.........etc

why do they never mention skills such as shooting, archery, and similar sports.......

I figured it out. But it took me a while to find the right channel. Broadcast on Ch 10, but because I don't live in a city, I had to look through about 30 channels to find the right one... very frustrating! The name of a town about 30km away, and the No 1.

I enjoyed the opening ceremony.

My OH got up to see some of it, which made it funny, because he recognised some Scottish things (like the haggis, and Oor Wullie), but he had no idea what Tunnoch's Tea Cakes were...... he said "what are the jellyfish doing there?" rofl :-D

Very proud of cousin Chris, helping to get the Queen's message :-)

The worst part was listening to the Aussie commentators..... mis-pronouncing lots of things (eg "Lock Lawmawnd")........... and the very bad comment "The Celtic-Rangers Stadium".

It's 8.50am here........ I'm going for a nap.

:-D

John Barrowman and Karen Dunbar???
I kept thinking.....The Singing Kettle !!

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 23 Jul 2014 23:58

Nearly forgot to say.......... sorry folks, but the Scottish men looked like they were ready for bed... wearing pyjama jackets.

:-(

The Aussie jacket looked like a weird school blazer.

A very short nap!

I was woken up by the 'phone (someone looking for Himself, who is out!)....... drifted off again, and somebody came to the door! By the time I got my eyes unstuck & staggered downstairs, whoever it was had gone.

It's nearly noon, so I might as well stay up, or my sleep pattern will be totally messed up.

Meanwhile....... Archie Clegg (one of the lovely dogs at the ceremony)......... has his own Twitter page!

I watched a lot of it, including when the Prince couldn't get the top off the baton to hand the Queen the message lol

I thought it was well done overall, and good that there was a minute's silence for those lost in the Malaysian plane crash.

I might watch some of the coverage during the next couple of weeks but not really into sports that much.

Good luck to those who look forward to watching the games, but I shall be giving it a miss, being one of those many who has little interest.

Just a pity that mainstream TV programs will once again be interrupted and the majority viewer inconvenienced.

I must admit I only watched a bit of the ceremony.

The only sport Iwill be watching is the Triathlon tis morning mainly for the Brownlee brothers.

I am hoping that the will show some of the archery and floor display for the gymnastics.

IGP I must so agree with you about the interuption of the normal programmes.

The BBC have enough other channels(bbc 3,bbc2) to show the Games on so why didn't they plan the programmes better.?

Update,,,,All this mornings programmes from BBC1 have been pushed on to BBC2,, :-S

I had never heard of Amy Mcdonald but thought her music was brilliant. Especially liked the bit where she started the singing in the street then all those locals did a turn.

Enjoyed watching John Barrowman too. And the ballet.

When did Oor Wullie appear? I might wind back to that on the recording . . .

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 24 Jul 2014 08:03

I saw Wullie for about two seconds, sitting on his bucket...... in the same dancing sequence as the big haggis (I think :-S ).

I must try to get a Tunnoch's teacake for my DH (Darling Husband!)
