Gosh didn't realise it would have been today.48 years ago.phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember the day well.
My 2 brothers and my mum & granny, myself and hubby, were all glued to the tv,
what a memorable day for England, sadly not to be repeated,
the way footballers play today, they spend more time on the ground, being tripped up,falling over pretending to be tripped up,its a disgrace.
That by the way is any nation, not just England.
:-( :-( :-(

I can remember hearing the noise from the stadium through my open bedroom window. I only lived a few miles from Wembley then.

My son still has not forgiven me because at his 6th birthday party half of the lads disappeared because I would not switch on football. Well I did not know it was important - little wonder his father had disappeared also!

I am reminded every 30 July.

Not really a good game of Football the 1966 WC Final.

Probably the best game of Football ever seen in the UK was the European Cup Final at Hampden Park Glasgow in 1960 - Real Madrid v Eintracht 7-3.

I was at a Girl Guide camp - one of the Dads was over the moon.
As a family we didn't follow football - I can't even remember if I knew that the WC was taking place!

I was as interested in football then as I am now. ie not at all. I was working at my Saturday job. The place was deserted.

I remember it too, my Dad loved watching football and we were all made to sit through it.

He was ecstatic, we were just bored..........well we were only 15 12 and 11 :-\

I remember it well as I was at Girl Guide camp that week.

My Dad, and others, listened to the game on the car radio.

Could it be that on 30 July 1966 - England won the Football World Cup in London, beating West Germany 4 - 2. This was England's first (and only) win since the tournament began in 1930. England forward Geoff Hurst became the only man to score a hat-trick in a world cup final :-D

History has a habit of repeating itself. But my earthly time-span is ebbing. So, hurray up England.

... at Wembly. I can't remember what it was; because that was before I was born. It hasn't happened at all during my lifetime. Hmmm, I wonder what it was... :-S
