ஐ+*¨^¨*+e+*¨^¨*+ஐ Mildred Honkinbottom Report 27 Nov 2014 07:19

My neighbour had Dementia with Lewy Bodies (associated with Parkinsons). The prognosis isn't good as it's progressive & one of the symptoms is depression .

My Dad has just been diagnosed with with Vascular Dementia (linked to his heart problems) and symptoms are similar. :-( In fact prior to diagnosis last week Dad has had days where he has displayed depression, sounding very low on the phone, disinterested in everything which is very unlike him. Anxiety is also heightened which corresponds to the hallucinations & feelings of persecution (he thinks people are watching him etc). Other days he seems ok.

Knowing Robin Williams was already suffering long term with depression, it was probably made worse with his condition.
Rational thought likely just wasn't there at the time. :-(

the word in the media over here was that he himself could not stand to wait and see what would happen ......................... but he was, of course, also a long time depressive.

How very sad perhaps he thought he was saving his family a lot of suffering in the long run, who knows what was in his mind

What a dreadful end, hanging himself, and so awful for his wife, I believe, to have found him. He must have been in a dreadful state to do such a thing and cause her and the family such pain and heartbreak.

So very very sad

Such a brilliant actor - I really love his films and Mork & Mindy - it meant so much to so many people.

Watched Dead Poets Society & Mrs Doubtfire the other day such a genius

Such a shock to his family & so sad he felt this was the only way a real cry from the heart

RIP

For you I stand on the desk & cry O Captain my Captain

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring; But O heart! heart! heart!O the bleeding drops of red,Where on the deck my Captain lies,Fallen cold and dead.O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning; Here Captain! dear father! The arm beneath your head!It is some dream that on the deck,You’ve fallen cold and dead.My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;Exult O shores, and ring O bells! But I with mournful tread,Walk the deck my Captain lies,Fallen cold and dead.

as has been said, so many comedic people suffer with depression - usually clinical depression - it's often hard to spot as they do a good cover up job

a talented funny man who brought joy to so many people - RIP Robin Williams - you were a "one off" <3 <3

I like this anacdote from Wikipedia about Mork & Mindy:

"The series was a spin-off from the sitcom Happy Days. The character of Mork was played by a then-unknown Robin Williams, who impressed producer Garry Marshall with his quirky comedic ability as soon as they met; when Williams was asked to take a seat at the audition, Williams immediately sat on his head on the chair and Marshall cast him on the spot, and later wryly commented that Williams was the only alien who auditioned for the role"

OMG, what a shock to see this. A lot of my fondest memories are tied to 'Mork and Mindy', as a friend and I used to watch it avidly. He was a much better actor than he was ever given credit for.

RIP Robin
