With a recent poll showing the Yes Campaign is marginally ahead - some pollsters are forecasting that the outcome of the Scottish Independence Referendum, will go to the wire. |

It might help the undecided decide to vote No. |

I have a lot of family and a lot of friends in Scotland and from the views they have expressed on the issue, one thing has come over very loud clear, and that is that every time David Cameron or George Osborne enter the debate they put peoples backs up. Perhaps they would help the No Campaign more, if they stayed clear of making promises as many Scots do not believe anything either of them say. |

I don't have any really strong feeling either way, but it seems to me there will be so many unforeseen problems apart from the major ones that it will be a nightmare for everyone. |

I wouldn't go as far as saying Scottish born MPs, but certainly MPs who currently represent Scottish constituancies, or who have their permanent home in Scotland. |

If it's a YES win, what do I do with my British passport? |

I personally support he No Campaign, I was born in Scotland and lived there for near on 56 years, that said I am in the opposite camp to that of the majority of my large family and many friends who live in Scotland. |

If Scotland votes for independence, the current proposal is that the Scottish government will immediately begin negotiations so that Scotland becomes independent on 24 March 2016. |

If the vote does 'go to the wire' it looks as though the decision will be down to foreign residents who can vote. Seems tough on Scots living south of the border. |

LadyScozz - as far as I am aware Scotland voting for independence will not affect the status of your UK passport :-) |

I doubt if I'll use my British passport again. |

Uk gov has said that Scots passport would only be ok for British Isles Cta so long as Scots immigration rules close to England. Eire, C.I., IOM no problem. However Scottish membership of the EU will require joining Schengen hence Millibands recent remarks about the border. The new people smuggling route into the Uk rump may be via Leith lol. If the utterly irrational yes vote wins life in Scotland will become very nasty very quickly as capital, business and skills fly south. It would only be a question of when not if Scotland goes bust - inside 5 years. The Darien bailout won't be offered again so a "yes" vote will put Scotland firmly under the thumb of Merkel assuming Salmond does intend to join the Eu. Otherwise it can take its chances on uts tod with dwindling oil fish farms and an aging unhealthy and poorly skilled workforce. It us hard to see the Tories in London crying anything but crocodile tears. My GGF was born in Galloway but had the great good sense to join the British army which eventually sent him to England. |
