The house (in England) my uncle & aunt & two cousins lived in was haunted.

My cousin woke up everybody with his screaming....... there was an old lady in his bedroom. She shook his bed so hard he ended up on the floor & bedclothes were scattered all over the room. This started when he was about 5 & continued until he left home! He was too small at 5 years old to do the damage himself.

Uncle found out from neighbours that an old lady used to live in the house, and she had a "thing" about young boys, she used to shout at any boy who came near her house.

Cousin still goes white in the face when he talks about it.

I have always been a bit of a scaredy cat in most houses I have lived in... Although not too bad now.

When husband and myself decided to go for a pub we viewed one which was said to be one of the most haunted pubs in the UK......so no way was I living there

We eventually took one which was part built 1600s the other part 1700s and it never really bothered me even though someone must have died there in the last 400 years. One night I woke with a start and was sure I saw two young girls in long white nightdresses holding hands staring at me at the end of the bed.... I have not found any children living there in any census... But of course they could have been there before census days... Spooky

Before you were named was Elizabeth one of the names under consideration?

perhaps a man eg (your father, grandfather, uncle, godfather ) wanted you to be called Elizabeth.

OR
have you recently had at tooth or teeth filled. Perhaps you are picking up sounds (from the air waves) in you filling!

I sometimes hear a horrible crashing/clashing sound when I'm in bed.
This wakes me up and confuses me.
The house was built in the 1920's, on farmland, but it was once a Roman settlement, and Iron age artefacts have been found.
Could it be a re-enactment of some ancient battle?

.........or me waking myself up, with my own snoring
:-( :-( :-S :-S

I so envy you Rose - I would love something spiritual like that to happen to me, but I don't think it ever will.

I've been to hypnotists in the past and they've all told me I'm impossible to hypnotise.

Anyone know why?

Actually I am now looking into the history of the area which is new to me because I've only lived here 4 years, and it's fascinating! I had no idea that this town ( barely that now) was in the Domesday book, and at times has been a hive of industrial activity.

quote
"It seems that each layer of history in this town has wiped away all trace of what was there before."

so given that, there could well have been something here, even a castle as the location is unknown. :-D

Awww bless her Hayley, I hope she bumps into my mum, they would get on really well :-)

Rambling

Rambling Report 8 Sep 2014 22:23

Snorts at Hayley's comment :-D :-D

Nooo there wasn't a home for the criminally insane here :-) at least i don't think there was :-0 !

All these houses were built over a mining area.... :-0 course it could be a ghostly miner still chipping away at a coal face deep beneath the house and calling for his lost love Elizabeth ( just entering into the spirit of Hayley's post.... "spirit" not an intentional pun LOL) .

I'm not worried though, I have a 'sensitivity' for places ( inherited ) and wouldn't have bought it had I felt anything 'untoward' :-)

Jeeeez. I'm not sure you should continue reading this thread Rose

I'm sure there is nothing bad to worry about in your house. If you are in anyway worried wish him well and do as Shelly said and ask him nicely to leave your house
