Hi I am a new member, do you get an email when somebody replys to a message you have sent or do you have to log in to this website to check replys

You should get a notification from Genes Reunited in your email inbox, you can then click on it to read the message here, but I'd advise checking here as well just in case the message from GR ends up in your spam folder.

I have not been receiving email notice of new pms in my box since last weekend



I have to remember to keep glancing at the Messages to see if there is something new

You can check to see if your message has been opened ................. click on Messages up above, then click on Sent


You will see the name of your contact


If there is a green envelope to the left of the name, it has not been opened

If there is no envelope showing, then the message (pm) has been opened.



Just another small thing .........

.......... GR does not automatically send email notifications of postings made on threads that you have started or on which you have posted ..............


You have to check back on site



However, you will see a small box below the Reply box, with Add to My Watched Threads to its right


If you tick that box, then GR will send you email notifications ................... hopefully! The system doesn't always work


and many of us do not use it as we got inundated with emails ....... they send 1 email for each post that you make :-)

Usually there is a message sent to you but this morning ,like Sylvia, I happened to see a 1 against the message box and opened it . I still haven't received the email from Genes telling me someone has sent me a message .

It's quite a long time since I last had an email about messages.

I was getting the emails last week.



Sunday was the first day I noticed them missing

My last email was on Monday but I have had pm's since then with no email alert.

had a pm from GR this morning regarding WDYTYA but like Island, no email alert

I sent an email to GR yesterday re not receving notifications

I got a reply this morning, saying they would look into it and report back to me

I also got an email telling em that there was a new pm

I came on site, and there was no change in the number of unopened messages (I have a baseline of 2 unopened messages that I have never been able to find)

BUT there was a new pm showing (green envelope) when I opened my Inbox .................... however, when I opened that pm, it was from 2 days ago, and one that I had answered :-S


The green arrow was back in place when I closed that pm
