Aargh! I have lots outside my back door from my wild rose that self planted itself. O.h. hates the plant and keeps threatening to pull it out but I like it and the birds do too altho they aren't that interested in the hips, just the insects that are on the branches etc.

In my schooldays us kids used to collect the Rose hips and make Itching Powder from them. ;-)

Ha ha!!!...not thinking of doing that Sharron,,,,been there done that.....don't forget I'm a great gran 8 times over....have good ideas and intentions but leave a lot of that to those younger than me!
Only doing the rose hips if I can find an easy recipe that will keep me interested and show Im still curious! :-0

I have been very scathing about rose hip syrup on Brenda's thread and while I am in Victor Meldrew mode I would like to say that there are far too many haws on the trees as well and that hawthorn jelly is not worth the bother either.
