That's very sweet of you Cynthia :-) I doubt that I will though, lol my brain's ok ( ish) but the rest of me is more "one of the ruins that Cromwell knocked about a bit" ( you may be too young to remember that song ) :-D

Thanks Sylvia :-)

Perhaps I should say that I'm not that old that I actually remember Marie Lloyd singing that song lol, I think must have heard it on 'The Good Old Days' :-)

Sylvia,

I have actually met Rose, albeit a "brief encounter" and can confirm that she is about 39 I reckon, :-)

Yes, I know it's bad form to discuss a lady's age lol

Tec :-)

Didn't she say earlier in this thread how old she is?

I wonder if Rose sits among the cabbages and peas like Marie Lloyd.

R.Rose,
Please let us know how you get on, I'm interested as my daughter finished Uni last year after 4 yrs studying, she's still living off her student loan as she doesn't want to "sign on". the form filling sounds awful, and have heard a few disturbing stories of how they treat you at the Job Centre (or whatever it's called these days).
I wish you well in your search for suitable employment.

Thankyou ladies :-)

The initial appointment went ok, the first advisor just went through the details on the online form I'd submitted, checked my ID and made copies of my bank statement, tax details etc. Then I was passed on to the work advisor, who had me sign the basic agreement to look for work, websites to look at and that I must sign up to 'Universal Jobmatch' and gave me a 'log book' to fill in with what I do to find work. I will now see an advisor every week from next week who will give more detailed advice, help with CV etc. Both advisors were very pleasant.

Don't know when i will get any money yet. Though I do know I won't get anything towards the mortgage for 13 weeks.

Shelley Rose, good luck to your daughter, if it's any help the young man who followed me for interview with the first advisor was in a similar position I think as I heard him say he had recently been a student and the advisor was being helpful to him as far as I could tell.

it will be less complicated for your daughter to fill in the forms as a lot of the more complicated questions won't apply. My very best wishes to her that she finds a job she enjoys soon. :-)

Rambling Rose,
Thank you for that info, you've stopped me from worrying so much, my daughter will at some point soon have to "sign on" and I think she'll have to take whatever is on offer (possibly not what she trained for)!

Thank you also for your good wishes for my daughter.
Glad your appointment went ok, and I hope you'll soon be able to find a job you like.
With Best Wishes,

ShelleyRose .x

Looking forward to my "50 plus group session " next week :-D apparently there will be 15 of us ( maximum the room takes I believe) so will see 'what's what' with that.

In the meantime had first 'proper' advisor appointment today, was ok if you like that sort of thing. " Tell me about yourself" is never a question I respond terriblly well to lol, it requires either a VERY long answer or a very brief one ;-) I will work on that for the future, something relevant, snappy and irresistible :-)

I should get some money Friday apparently as I have so far taken the measures they expect of a job seeker which are quite intensive in comparison to my past experience of being unemployed. As a friend says they have toughened up the procedures in the last few years ( she has a friend who works in benefits etc).

Drama at the bus station afterwards though, a bus broke down and blocked the exit so there was a queue of buses ready to leave and more buses arriving behind them, gridlocked for about 40 minutes until engineers arrived. had a nice chat with some young girls on the bus as we sat there stuck though lol...don't believe it when they say the young have no common sense, the young lady opposite had a plan ( for using the entrance as an exit with someone directing the traffic in and out ) that unfortunately none of the engineers and bus staff had the wit to think of, they were too busy standing drinking coffee and looking non-plussed . :-D

Note to anyone who has become unemployed for whatever reason or is in work but in debt. Make sure if you have any debts you can't pay ( credit cards etc) that you contact the provider, they are very helpful i have found. and also in case you don't know of it http://www.stepchange.org/ Freedebt advice ( used to be CCCS).
