Some MPs are as shallow as a worm's grave.

RolloTheRed Report 28 Sep 2014 16:17

There is politics and then there is populism. Populism was espoused by Mosley (Black Shirts), Eva Peron, Mussolini, Putin, Herr Schwickelgruber, Salmond, le Pen and the oaf currently running Hungary et al. It should not be confused with politics. Certainly W S Churchill was well aware of the difference. Nigel Faraj and his motley crew of chancers obviously not.

Winston Churchill 'crossed the floor' several times in his political career. Just a thought.

Dermot Report 28 Sep 2014 11:22

I'd rather not vote for the re-election of a 'turncoat' MP, who sways with the wind direction.

I suppose it could be said that the naughty government minister was just proving he had nothing to hide :-D

ElizabethK

ElizabethK Report 28 Sep 2014 10:32

What is the matter in today's society that people want to take pictures of themelves in "naughty" mode and send them to other people ?

One look at myself in the mirror and I want to hide it all - although admittedly it is all a bit ancient :-D

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 28 Sep 2014 09:10

With these defections, the reports today of a Tory minister sending naughty pictures, and the pressure on David Cameron from his Eurosceptic MP's - I am reminded of the last few months of John Major's government ;-)

Kense

Kense Report 27 Sep 2014 19:54

How is he going to keep his promises to the electorate if he gets elected as a UKIP member?

Does he just want to be a member of an opposition party so he can blame the government for his failure to keep promises.

Guinevere Report 27 Sep 2014 19:12

Be interesting to see who the Tories put up against him.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 27 Sep 2014 18:39

According to one on-line newspaper, "I will resign my seat in parliament, trigger a by-election and stand for UKIP."
http://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/news/medway-mp-quits-tories-for-24189/

So he'll either be re-elected as a Ukip and for his personality, or rejected at the ballot box.

Although not completely aware of the constituancy demographics, a large minority of Migrants, some 2nd or 3rd generation, live in the area.

It will be an interesting result at the Count

Public service shows eventually that (most) MPs are defective ....

He obviously doesn't care.

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 27 Sep 2014 17:38

BUT he was voted in on his Tory convictions so where does this leave his voters??

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 27 Sep 2014 17:10

I trust the Tories more than I trust UKIP.

And I don't trust the Tories at all. :-D

Mayfield

Mayfield Report 27 Sep 2014 17:07

Everyone on here has their own party they favour there will never be full agreement whatever anyone posts.

Oh but hold on there just might be!
Hands up all those who trust the current parties and their backside licking candidates, and think they are doing a grand job of following the wishes of the electors?

So do we try voting for something that will shake 'em up, or more of the same? ;-)

They'll be dancing on the tables in Brewer's Green tonight.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 27 Sep 2014 15:56

One of the challenges of British politics on both sides is the astonishing imbecility of much of the back bench with a few rays of sunlight chairing select committees. The Ukip tendency though plumbs new depths with MPs attracted to Faraj's mumbo jumbo in much the same way as Benefits street's love affair with Wonga. Either way they are seeking the impossible.

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 27 Sep 2014 15:18

He said it was because he found that it is impossible to keep promises he gave to his voters as a Conservative MP at the last election.

He said "I remember the promises I made to my constituents in Rochester and Strood at the last election, and I intend to keep them, I found that it's impossible to keep these promises as a Conservative and that is why I am joining UKIP."

The Rochester and Strood MP said he had not taken the decision lightly but claimed the Conservative leadership was "part of the problem that is holding our country back."

Another one that does not like the "Rich Boys Club" :-D

Making a lot of promises - I wonder if he can keep them
