Hello. I have found the following wedding , but it does not give the couples ages . . As David Thomas is such a common name ,if I knew the age It would help to prove it was the right one .before I send for the wrong certificate. it mentions Banns but I can't find them . |

What sort of certificate are you hoping to get pre-1837? |

If you've seen the parish register it should show the witness's. That could help determine the correct family. |

The above is taken from the Parish Registers and that is the only record there is, as official registration didn't start until 1837. |

on Parish Register records of marriages before July 1 1837, you do only get either "of full age" or "minor" |

birth years on the 1841 Census may be up to 4 years out, as the age of people over the age of 15 were supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 |

Thanks again , but it doesn't fit with my family . the wrong David Thomas .I have found another one ,born the same year and died a year different . think that one is more likely . With the name of Thomas it's not easy . That's why I tried to find the wife's side. I didn't know there were no marriage certificates before 1837 |
