Thanks again everyone for advice, got the tank home, advised this sort of sandy gravel and half filled the tank so far but it is very murky like the sea when you paddle in it and disturb the sand, its taking an age to clear. Something tells me we will be starting again with this. Will phone the shop tomorrow :-S |

I always wash the gravel in a builders bucket by running water through it, and stirring it a bit till the water comes clear. |

IF you know someone with an active aquarium, you might be able to "borrow some of his gravel, or water, or ornament....( containing the right bacteria,) to get your tank going.. |
