Liz ~ I grew up with parents who were extremely fussy about table manners...... father would give us a sneaky nudge when we had soup, to make sure our soup bowls were facing the correct way!

That idea lasted for me and my brother........ but it must have been "too difficult" for the brothers who came after us. Putting it bluntly.... pigs have better table manners!

For many years, I was a dedicated tea drinker.

Now I'm a coffee addict & find the taste of tea abhorrent.

Dunk unless I am somewhere posh or where I don't know the people around me! I like Fig rolls, and almost any kind of biscuit dunked as well as dunking my warmed cinnamon and raisin bagel each morning (in coffee made with half milk) Trouble is I eat more biscuits that way than if 'dry'

I was always told by my Dad to drink soup from the side of the spoon and fill spoon from bowl tilted away from me, Dad said it was so I didn't slop soup on cloth or in my lap. Not many people I know do that, and have never heard of tipping the bowl away from them.

Dunk, dunk,dunk!!!!
Unbuttered bread in soup or gravy from stew, well laced with brown sauce.
Rich tea or ginger nuts with hot drinks.
Regardless of who is watching. ;-)

I just saw this..........

V*agra is now available in teabags.

It doesn't help with "performance", but your biscuit won't go soft.

:-D

Soup stains on a moustache/beard looks terrible.

And some men are no better.

Dunk biscuits in tea or coffee, never. Yuk.

For soup I cut up bread into small pieces and toast them with a spice. These hot croutons are tasty in soup. OH makes most of her soups from scratch exception Heinz tomato.

Why would anybody prefer a soggy mess to a crispy biscuit?

I was allowed to dunk as a child. As I told mum, the alternative was drinking my tea out of my saucer, like her mum :-D

Dear All

Hello

I feel very pleased to be in such fine company. :-D

We could start a football or rugby team called, Dunkers of GR United!

I dip my biscuit in my tea and love it!

Thank you very much for all the replies. <3

I quickly dunk plain biscuits...never chocolate ,in my tea.
I have a preference for plain MVit digestives and ginger nuts, which I have with my first morning cuppa.
I also dislike a biscuit falling in...that's why I only dunk quickly!

I wasn't allowed to dunk when I was a child........ but tried it when I wasn't under Mum's watchful eye........ and didn't like the soggy biscuit :-(

I'm not a dunker.

I always tear the bread up and put it all in the soup.

Try not to dunk my biscuits because I don't like to find a bit of biscuit in my tea if it falls off.

Ooh! I haven't dunked a biscuit for a very long time.But now I want to :-D
I would dunk one at home with people here but never anywhere else. The only thing with dunking is when the biscuit breaks off and you get all the sludgy stuff in the bottom of the cup/mug.Now that I hate :-S

Yes I like to have a bit of butter on my bread with soup :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 31 Oct 2014 19:15

But of course ;-)

The polite way was to tear off a bite sized piece, butter it, then pop it into your mouth.

At home its usually a normal thickness slice of bread, buttered then dunked.
If you've cut the bread too thin, the soggy end might fall off before it gets eaten :-0
