Had a tongue biopsy Monday afternoon.
Line manager asked if I'd be back at work afterwards!!!!
Biopsy was okay - but the pain an hour later was quite bad.

Tuesday the man was coming to service my boiler, so I'd taken annual leave. He's been due to come the previous week, but 2 members of the team were on leave, so I'd changed it. I couldn't have gone to work anyway, as I found it difficult to swallow - not too keen on wasting a day's leave being ill :-|

Boiler man arrived at 9 (due at 10:30) and had finished by 9:30. I went back to bed. When I got up, felt a bit chilly - heating wouldn't come on.
Phoned the firm, he came back out, thermostat had given up the ghost.

He 'fixed' it so as the water heated up, so the radiators would work, and would be out the next day to replace the thermostat.

Wednesday, didn't sleep too well, boiler making noises and house very hot. Had to get up and phone work before 9am.
My throat was agony, and I had earache. It was getting very difficult to swallow - even painkillers took half an hour of 'bracing' myself before I took them. I needed to see my GP - but when was the boiler man coming? Phoned the firm - Thursday or Friday. Arranged for the heating/hot water to be disconnected - I'd light the fire. Phoned Surgery.
No infection, but apparently a large biopsy was taken, from the very back under my tongue, that connected with my tonsils. Given liquid ibuprofen and told to try to eat solid food. I tried, and failed.

Today - wanted to stay in bed, but had to phone work again, and realised I hadn't put the bin out. No call from boiler company yet.
Fire ready to light, but as I haven't very much coal, will wait until later.
I was going to roast something to eat in the hope the oven would give me some heat, but not sure if I could eat it :-(

It's annoying, as the actual biopsy has given me very little problem, apart from not being able to move my tongue as much as I'd like, but my throat is agony :-(

I feel fine in myself - just in pain - and due to that, tired.
Also a bit chilly :-(

Poor you - you need warmth when you are feeling iffy. Pain always makes you so tired. Hot bottle/electric blanket? <3

Hi Maggie,

Not sure if you have seen your GP yet, but i recently had something similar to yours.

The hospital gave me a mouthwash which also helped to ease the pain.

I found adding warm water also helped.

The hospital gave me Bienzydamine 0.15%.

It might be worth asking him about it or something similar.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
Maurice.

Sending you a (((((hug))))) and hoping you feel better and your throat eases soon. Possibly not eating makes you feel weak which in turn makes you feel cold so a vicious circle. <3 <3

Maurice, have seen a GP, was just given painkiller. I don't think she'd ever a tongue biopsy before.

I lit the fire and went upstairs to sleep.
I'm not saying it's cold, but one cat was just visible amongst the duvets/cushions (covered in a protective throw) on a spare bed, one was squeezed between the pillows on my bed, the other was under a blanket I have over my duvet!! :-S

When I woke up, living room was cosy. :-D :-D :-D

Not that you spoil those cats Maggie :-D

maggiewinchester Report 6 Nov 2014 17:49

Note how the cats didn't snuggle up to each other?
They really only tolerate the existence of the others.

When I crawled under the blanket, George (cat) snuggled right up to me - purely for warmth. I could almost see the smug look on his face :-D :-D

Thank you all for your good wishes, and a very special <3 to Sharron.
The specialist thinks the lesion has been caused by a very sharp tooth at the back. Sharp tooth most probably caused by my (unknown) grinding of my teeth - caused by stress (again!)

He took the biopsy as a precaution - and has told me to go back to the dentist to get it ground down. But, in the meantime, the tooth is still sharp, and now I have a hole in my tongue to get caught on it.

This dentist is the same dentist who referred me straight to the clinic, after 'chiding' me for grinding my teeth - and pointing out the sharp one at the back!!!
Did he think it would blunt itself???

I will go back when my throat is better :-D
