It's a brilliant programme Joy :-)

My neighbour fosters border collies till they can find a forever home.
So far she has passed on five lovely dogs to really good loving homes.

Every one of them has so much going for them.

JoyBoroAngel Report 13 Nov 2014 21:04

anybody who is kind to animals is ok in my mind

JoyBoroAngel Report 13 Nov 2014 21:05

yes that's true Ann
I met Rolf myself at Olympia
to be honest he seamed so nice

Rambling Report 13 Nov 2014 21:14

People who are 'nice with animals' are not always good people
but people who are cruel to animals are NEVER good people.

imo :-D

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 13 Nov 2014 21:15

tough one that Joy - anyone who is unkind to animals is normally unkind to humans- Rolf is obviously an exception to the rule

Paul O'Grady is a one off and I see him as 100% what you see is what you get, his life has been an open book and I think with his success and all the shite thats been brought to the surface about the slime, someone would have revealed a headline grabber by now,,,,

maggiewinchester Report 13 Nov 2014 22:18

I agree, Joy, but the people at Battersea are so dedicated.
Makes you proud to be a human, and not like the abusers.

Sounds strange, but last weekend, I asked one of my grandsons to raise his hand to one of my cats, (as though about to hit them) to see their reaction.
The cat went towards his hand, to nuzzle it. He didn't recoil, expecting to be hit.
I, of course praised my grandson, and explained why I'd asked him to do it. My cats don' recoil from me, but I wanted to see their reaction to others', that don't live with them.

A couple of summers ago I had to get up to Fred at about 5 a.m. The cat came too and got under my feet because he assumed that getting up meant immediate meat for him.

I shouted at him in annoyance and he looked puzzled at me.He didn't run away, he was trying to work out what he was supposed to do.

OneFootInTheGrave Report 14 Nov 2014 10:24

I met Paul many times in the the late 70's/early 80's, he is a a very caring compassionate guy who has an inherent understanding of the problems faced by young and elderly vulnerable people from when he worked in those sectors, as Kay said, his life is an open book - what you see is what you get, if there was anything in his closet, which I doubt there is, you can bet your last penny that someone would have been running to the gutter press by now.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 14 Nov 2014 10:28

one of my cats Scarlett was so badly neglected before she went into the rescue
I agreed to take her before I even seen her
poor love has been here two years and
she still doesn't understand her next meal is guaranteed
and scavenges in the kitchen bin

but she is looking mighty good now and is so loving :-D :-D
she even sleeps in our bed ;-) ;-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 14 Nov 2014 10:31

What do you mean, even sleeps in your bed?

Get it right woman. She sleeps in her bed but she graciously allows you to warm it for her.

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 14 Nov 2014 10:42

JoyBoroAngel <3 you are a softie, you remind me of a friend of mine, she went to see a litter of kittens, there were 5 in the litter, she could not bear the thought of them being separated - so she took all 5 of them :-)

Sharron :-D :-D :-D

JoyBoroAngel Report 14 Nov 2014 10:44

I sleep on the very edge the butler next to me
and the two girl cats spread out across the rest of the bed in comfort
while we are falling out the edge
I don't know what will happen when Steves bigger
and is free to roam the rest of the house

maybe me and the butler will be demoted to one of the spare rooms ;-) ;-)
