My grand parents died in the 70s and their belongings were distributed round family members but no one remembers what happened to the family bible. Can anyone tell me if there is a site that I could ask if anyone has it in their possession, or knows where it could be. I would love to have it back for the family history. |

Contact local history societies in the areas that relatives lived at the time of the distribution of things. Sometimes they either take them or record them. |

If you're near a cathedral try them - the head verger would probably be the best one to ask.. Many families donate family bibles to the church and I know of at least one cathedral which eventually ran out of storage space so the longer-stored bibles were sold to a collector. If the nearby cathedral had your family bible I'm sure they'd happily return it to the descendants. |

our family bible went missing years ago - we all believe it's with the husband of one of our cousins who died, but he denies all knowledge of it - don't believe him :-( |

Thank you everyone you have given me ideas. Unfortunately searching would be more difficult, as now I live in New Zealand, but I will be sending some emails to relevant people, and you never know. |

Don't forget to have a look on E-BAY as loads of family bibles are sold on there. |
