One of the world’s most upmarket shop have started selling rare tea from Scotland.............

and it works out at around £10 per cup :-0

Fortnum & Mason have announced the arrival of the first Scottish tea, Dalreoch, costing £35 for a 15g tin – enough for about three cups.

The Perthshire-grown teas – a white tea and the world’s first smoked white tea – are costly, even by the standards of the central London department store.

Fortnum's tea expert Darren Williams said: “Although customers can buy the tea loose to make as little as one cup, it is the second most expensive tea we’ve ever sold.”

Tam O'Brann, who runs the Dalreoch plantation in the Strathbraan Valley, is delighted that his tea is selling in such a prestigious shop.

Being a Scot, I buy a few Scottish delicacies, but think in this instance I will stick to my Yorkshire Red Tea Bags - 3 pence a cup is easier on my pension ;-)

As Scotland isn't renowned for its tea plantations, it's not surprising it's so expensive. Good luck to them! :-)

I usually buy Typhoo for 89p for a box of 100 tea bags. That's less than a penny each. So, for £10, I can have 1100 cups of tea. :-)

I don't like tea, but it would be interesting to see how many people would pick this expensive cuppa out as being the best taste from half a dozen different unnamed brands.
