Sharron

Sharron Report 3 Dec 2014 00:17

I haven't really worn make-up for years. working at the Estee Lauder factory was similar to working in a sweet shop.

Thought I might get some and wear it sometimes but, because my eyes are a funny sort of non-colour,, the only colour of mascara that really looks any sense on me is grey and it has to be waterproof as well because I look like a demented panda otherwise.

Had a look on the internet in the hope of buying myself this waterproof, grey mascara in the interests of increasing my loveliness, only to find that the only company that makes it is Mary Quant and the only country it is available is Japan.

Make sure you buy hypo-allergenic, Sharron. Just in case the ingredients make your eyes smart. I have been unable to wear eye make-up since my twenties for this reason.

I'm intrigued by your 'non-colour' of eyes! It's a lovely idea though, you will look super! x

I have never needed hyper- allergenic but,I just have watery eyes.

Black mascara makes my eyes look like pee holes in the snow and brown just emphasises what colour my eyes aren't.

Estee Lauder mascara is the only one that doesn't end up all over my face :-(

I have long eyelashes (thanks Mum!)... any other mascara falls off and smudges when I blink. Sharron and I must be related, because I too get the demented panda look.

I tried having my lashes tinted, but was allergic to the dye! I looked like a rabbit with mixi for a week.

;-)

I have allergies to all the mascaras i have tried, but L'oreal doesn't make my eyes sting and it doesn't smudge if i am careful and wipe my watery eyes outwards. I don't put it on until my morning eye watering has stopped..lol

hope this helps :-)

Well no, but thank you for your interest anyway Stella.

The real point was that the only place I can get get waterproof grey mascara in Japan.

I don't think you can even get grey mascara that is not waterproof in this country any more.

just a thought Sharron that you might try a touch of violet mascara.. that might give the impression of adding colour to your eyes?

:-)

Sharron Report 3 Dec 2014 10:56

I tried them all back in the day.

Brown will do but grey is the one.

It looks like there might be a way of getting it from the Mary Quant shop in London.near Sloane Square.

Now, who can I bribe on here?

But, then again, it's only a tube of mascara.

I need it as badly as I need a JCB.

Ah but if you are anything like me, once i get an idea in my head i have to follow it through or i keep thinking about it..lol

Sharron Report 3 Dec 2014 11:24

You have to remember my intrinsic meanness Stella.

I compile enormous orders in my basket and never press the order button.

If I do order it I hope it out of stock and don't enjoy it when it comes.

I am going through the long and convoluted motions of getting some mushroom spawn at the moment.

Easy enough to do, I know. Order, send , receive, but I first have to gp through the agonizing about whether it will grow, if we will eat the mushrooms, can I get them cheaper. I am barely eighteen months into that yet.

Sharron...don't be mean..

learn to love yourself , and stop feeling guilty about it... :-)

PS:.. you could have your eyelashes tinted grey..then you wouldn't be buying expensive mascara

Oh, I love myself alright, enough to think that I am acceptable without that mascara!. I just hate spending money and believe it to be genetic.

There are tales of socks full of sovereigns under beds on both sides.

The mascara was just a passing fancy so not spending money on it will give me more for something I REALLY want, and have considered for a long time, in the future.

Sharron... are you Scottish by any chance?....lol

of course you are acceptable without make-up, it's just the feel good factor really.

if i don't wear some eye make-up people tell me that i look ill..

Sharron Report 3 Dec 2014 12:29

No, I am neither Scottish nor Jewish. There are some Asians who have the same reputation too. I remember sitting at the cafe in Alum Bay with a Bengali chap once and he was giggling and nudging me and saying that there were two ??????s over there and they were renowned for their meanness.

These two men had bought a cup of coffee and tipped half into the saucer so they could share it!

I can't remember what group or religion they belonged to but I thought they were very sensible indeed but not enough so to bring a flask!

YOU CAN GET GREY BUT HOW ABOUT A BROWN/BLACK MIGHT BE A BETTER SHADE,EVEN TRY LOOKING AT THE YOUNGER AGED MAKEUP,THEY HAVE SOME LOVELY COLOURS.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Dec 2014 21:58

I have my eyelashes tinted brown and use a colourless mascara to thicken my lashes when I go out. You can't smudge it so you don't get that lovely 'panda' look :-)
