What does it take to be stabbed to death in London nowadays?

It's not nice to advocate a jail sentence for anybody, but it is vital that justice is administered in some form, evenly and fairly for all.

Of course it is every person's right (not just British ! ) but we have one of the best (and fairest, I might add) judiciary systems in the world and part of that system gives every person the right to appeal. You can not be selective with that process.
It was a despicable crime and justice has been seen to be served but the right to appeal is a basic right afforded to all, whatever the crime.
Indeed, in some cases, sentences are in fact increased through the appeal process.
It works both ways!

it may well be their right in English law, but it is also the right of every British citizen to walk the streets of this country without being murdered

Fusilier Lee Rigby did not get to appeal for his right, the right to life, these 2 evil men denied him that right by sentencing him to die in a heinous and barbaric way - for that, if it was possible, they should have been denied the right to appeal their sentences!

On the other hand, it is their right in English law.

The two men convicted of killing Fusilier Lee Rigby outside Woolwich Barracks in South East London in May 2013 - have lost legal challenges against their convictions and sentences.

Michael Adebolajo's attempts to have his conviction overturned and whole-life sentence reduced were rejected by three judges at the Court of Appeal.

Michael Adebowale, who was arguing for a reduction in his minimum sentence of 45 years, also had his case thrown out.

Lord Chief Justice Lord Thomas, sitting with Lady Justice Hallett and Mr Justice Openshaw, said the sentences were "just" punishment for the "horrific and barbaric" murder.
