The vet is a couple of miles away and the PDSA is more like twenty.

It is really laziness that stops me going there I think.

That is very generous, but I have just been looking at their website and it says that pet owners are always asked for a voluntary contribution towards the treatment.

So, if you are eligible, you could pay the net cost ie without the vet's large profit!

We do, but I am coping and I think that, all the time I can pay for mine there is more money for somebody who can't.

Sharron, do you have a branch of the PDSA near you? They are specifically for pet owners, like you, without much spare cash and will treat Desmond free.

My cat is 16 and is definitely the boss in this house. I've just lost the battle for my favourite chair - again!

She's very healthy and looks half her age, and long may she remain with us. :-D

Don't all cats think they are the centre of the universe ;-). I have 4 here. My original old lady who is a feisty 17 and a half black short hair, a torty who arrived at my doorstep as a stray now 12, then I have inherited my daughter's 2 an Abyssinian 8 years old and her 'baby' a 2 year old Siamese Bengal cross. They all cost us a fortune especially the old girl as like me she is getting a lot of complaints of old age :-D. She still rules the roost though and I would not change her for anything.

Cat rule !!!! well in our house anyway :-D :-D :-D :-D

Every cat is king/queen of the world from the day it is born.

Our cat Mitzi is 13 today and yesterday was playing like a kitten. Sadly her twin sister was ill a year or so ago and the vet couldn't save her. Mitzi moped for a couple of days and then seemed to get a fresh lease of life.

I hope Desmond gets better soon and is around to drive you mad for a few years yet

Sharron, our last cat, Lemon (don't ask) was twenty when we had to part with her :-(

For the last few years we have been custodians of our daughter's two cats, one of whom went missing a couple of weeks ago.

His brother is now showing signs of missing him.

They are both nine years old.

Remaining cat is now continually looking for cuddles and affection

Over the years, all our cat's have cost us a small fortune in vets bills, but worth every cent!

Not long at all Sharron, aren't all cats born with that gene?

Hope Desmond will stay well for you to catch up with the costs, bless him, such a worry when pets are poorly as it costs so much. I suppose it must make us grateful that we don't have to cough up so much at the doctor's.

My cat, Desmond, is thirteen years old, which is pretty good going for a grey stray.

Last week he was ill again and cost me yet another £90 for anti-biotics and steroids.

Of course he is worth it, not just for his lovely cuddly self but how long is it going to take me to train another cat to think it is the centre of the universe?
