This from the US Department of Agriculture:

Can You Cook a Frozen Turkey Without Thawing It First?

Question: Our Thanksgiving travel plans this year might have to be cancelled at the last minute — if so, can I cook a frozen turkey without thawing it first?

Answer: Yes — you can roast a frozen turkey in the oven without defrosting it first, says the U.S. Department of Agriculture. You shouldn't grill, smoke, deep-fry or microwave a frozen turkey.

I wouldn't....... but I think it has something to do with whether the turkey breast has bones or not.

We bought a "small" frozen turkey 2.8 Kg, and it took three days to defrost in the fridge.

I would have preferred a whole turkey breast, but all of them had been "flavoured" with marinades & spices........ we got one of those a couple of years ago, and didn't like it at all; much prefer to do my own "flavouring".

btw.......we had our turkey last night (Christmas eve)........ it's Christmas Day here, 6.45am......... Merry Christmas? <3

Santa was good to me. :-D....... but I've been a good girl all year, never naughty ;-)

Isn't poultry supposed to hang for a few days before cooking??

Anyway, I fished our frozen turkey breast out of the freezer a short while ago. It says cook from frozen for 2 h 45 m or from chilled for 1h

If anyone is going to cook from frozen, use a probe thermometer to make sure its done or at the very least make sure that the juices run clear.

If you buy a frozen turkey, make sure that the turkey is properly defrosted before cooking it. ... times to work out roughly how long it will take to thaw your turkey.
