:-D Sue.
My neighbour the other side isn't attached and is just round the corner.
She has 2 sons, fortunately past teenagehood now, but when they were about 16, they built their own shed in the garden and used to smoke skunk in it! At that time, we had a local shop. One was quite shocked when I met him in the shop, and suggested he changed his clothes after smoking in the shed, as he stunk of skunk :-D
I also pointed out that I didn't much like getting stoned whilst hanging out my washing'
Since growing up, the boys are lovely.

They also have an Old English sheepdog dog, which used to climb over the fence and stand in my pond. He used to stink!!
They soon put up a 6ft fence :-D

The previous people in that house were okay. She was a bit nosey, also had a habit of standing in her garden and shouting to me if she wanted anything :-( Her son and my daughter were playmates.
She's moved away, but her son is still local, and is a 'friend' of my girls on FB.

All in all we are fortunate with our neighbours. Mind you we have niggles about a couple of them.

For over a year the property opposite was empty while it was refurbished. The tradesmen frequently parked their vans opposite our drive which made it awkward.
That used to irritate me.

The owners of the house at the back of us have more money than they know what to do with. When they put up security lights, several of us had to ask them to realign them in our case the light smacked you straight in the eyes when standing at the kitchen sink. The latest improvement is a tree house for grandchildren, which they rarely use thank goodness. We have had instances when they've stood on the stairs and shouted insults. We're fairly certain they should have had planning permission as it overlooks at least 2 back gardens and it about 12 feet high.
As long as the grands behave themselves, we'll put up with it.

Det - bl**dy security lights!
I have one, but removed the 500 watt tube and replaced it with a 100 watt one. I have a garden, not a football pitch!! I also make sure the light is pointing down and doesn't go beyond my shed.
One year, some toerags cut the wire, and stole next door's bikes from their shed. I have nothing of value in my shed.

According to a mate who has just had a "man lab" and a Wendy(summer) house built, the concrete foundation/base is ok as long as what is placed upon it is deemed "not permanent"

and as to height, highest point not less than 3 metres from a boundary so a higher one angle roof you would put the pointy bit away from a fence, a normal type tool shed can go alongside the boundary

This is a useful guide to Householder permitted development rights http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/

There is a link to the section on outbuildings at the bottom of the page

Bob there is nothing whatsoever offensive at all about mentioning illegals .

The FRR`r probably took illegals as meaning Immigrants, jumping the gun there, but I reckon whoever it was, might have believed it was the other Bob who made the comment.
(He has puritanical followers) so could be a little bit of "mistaken identity" as well

Can't get the link to work properly on the iPad. I'll have a look later from the PC.

So you're suggesting that it's OK to erect a 'temporary' structure where individuals can stand on the 'landing' with their feet level with our 6ft fence and look into our gardens??

I'm sure there's been a case where a complaint had been upheld. As I said, as long as the grands respect our privacy, we won't rock the boat. If the grands get intrusive, we could ask the owners to add some privacy screens.

When Maggies neighbours eventually come to sell, they may find they are in a bit of bother!

Hi Bob and K,
The only problem is, it's a council house - hence having to ask permission for even a wooden shed!

You could always anonymously suggest to the HA that they ought to increase their rent ;-)

Even if they've self- built, why spend so much on something they can't take with them?

I think he's come into some money. Not only has he spent a fortune on breeze blocks, he's recently changed his car!

Here in Nottingham Maggie the Council are obliged to let you know by mail if any nearby property has applied for planning permission which could possibly effect you in any way whatsoever.

eg, A guy across the dual carriageway road and a door or so up from us (about 40 mtrs away) must have applied for planning permission ( not a council house his aint`)..
But we were still informed about it and asked to say if we had any objections.

Looks like your man hasn`t applied for permission, if you ain`t been notified.

BudgieRustler, I didn't know we had "followers" Does that mean I have a fan club? It shouldn't be to hard to distinguish me from "the other Bob", I am the handsome, debonaire one. Bob
