I was on the phone to my sister earlier, she was bemoaning the fact that, you dust, and the next day the dust is back again. - she has 1 cat. I have 3 cats, so dusting is a rarity, as nothing stays dust free for long.

I've spent the day repainting my kitchen. Just got the bit under the worktop and behind the microwave, by the back door to do. I've cleaned the back door and painted the wall either side. I was about to move the microwave when I noticed something.
Baby spiders, on a length of web zig-zagging from the back door to the wall and back, the full length of the door!!
I counted at least 20.
My sister worries about dust - I get spiders :-0

I like spiders - have lots of cobwebs - well they have to have somewhere to live :-D

I like spiders too, Ann - but I can't believe the cheek :-0

I spent this morning removing ancient dusty cobwebs before painting. The last thing I did was clean the door and paint around it. Turn my back to have a quick dinner - and there they are!!!!
They can't even wait until I've finished :-|

They don't live long if i see them.... would rather find a mouse than a spider

Spiders are survivors form aeons ago. They are interesting and some beautiful. Photogenic. Their webs encrusted in dew or ice are a wonder. They eat flies and such which in a house means you don't need to bother with insecticides which the cats hate.

I have at least two species which have set up in my car. No, it has not been cleaned inside since new - no need, don't smoke or eat in it. I clear the webs off the door mirror but they soon weave them back.

No British species bites. Some do in other countries but are rarely aggressive ... except in Australia and you have to have some sympathy there.

i don't have cats, and i don't use insecticides as i am asthmatic, but a big foot or rolled up newspaper usually deals with them :-D

I think I found 'mummy' this afternoon.
Decorating is one of the few times I pull domestic appliances out.
Pulled the fridge out, and a spider went scurrying by me. The amount of fluff-covered web behind the fridge convinced me it was her 'home'.
I managed to catch her for identification.

The nearest I can find is a cupboard spider - Steatoda grossa - otherwise known as a False Black Widow spider.
She has now been released, and not once did she try to bite me :-D :-D
(that'll be because I didn't hurt her, and spiders rarely bite)

I managed to eject most of the babies safely into the garden. There's plenty of shelter out there for them :-D

If not, they'll contribute to the food chain ;-)

i got my paint in B&Q only cost me a fiver as paint was on sale

I'm afraid mine is a cream - Natural Calico.
It's so small, if I painted it red, I'd feel like it was eating me :-(

Hmmmm. That would look nice with red.
My question is, would my kitchen 'detritus' blend in, or would it look very 'busy'???

I think I'll stick with paint. Tiny kitchen, fried breakfast, no extractor fan = dollops of fat on the wall :-(

I've finished the paintwork - apart from the door and 1 small bit of skirting. Taking the old blind securers (the bits that hold them in place) down took at least 2 hours and 3 cups of tea :-S
Now I just have to empty the cupboards and 're-jig' the 'stuff' :-( :-(

I'm not saying that decorating the kitchen causes upheaval, but I've just noticed Betty (cat) is sleeping on sandpaper, that has been left on the living room floor :-(

.......and her favourite paper bag has been abandoned!!

Have done my front room in Hay Bale.

Spiders are fearless mothers.One hatched her children in the corner of the front room where she guarded then fearlessly.She squared up to the broom when I took the old webs down.
